FIREFLY APPRECIATION THREAD!

The show blended elements from the space opera and Western genres, depicting humanity's future in a manner different from most contemporary science fiction programs in that there are no alien creatures or large space battles. Source

Reasons we love Firefly
Because it's one of a kind show that became more than just a tv series.
Because the cast is out of this world amazing and we love them all.
Because it made "brown coat" another word for freedom fighter.
Because we now feel the need to use the word shiny a lot!
Because in this show the criminals are the good guys.

The Characters and moments

Mal is Captain of the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity, and was a volunteer in the war between the Alliance and the Independents. He got the name for his spaceship from a famous battle he fought and commanded in, the Battle of Serenity Valley. His main mission is to keep his crew alive and to keep his ship flying. As Firefly writer Tim Minear stated in an interview: "It's just about getting by. That's always been the mission statement of what the show is — getting by." Mal was born on September 20, 2468, this would make him the equivalent of a man in his early 30s today. Mal was raised by his mother and "about 40 hands" on a ranch on the planet Shadow.

People in my knitting group are learning how to make Jane Hats.
I haven't really seen the show but the hats are coming along nicely.

Of course no one else would know why I was wearing a silly hat and I'd get laughed at... but still!

It would be hilarious

Jane's hat was orange right? So you'd have to do it in bright colors like that for the full effect.

Oh Jayne took the hat very seriously!

I bet you can somewhere online, though it doesn't look too difficult to knit, it propably wont take longer than a day or two to make one.

That is providing that I learn how to knit

Firefly was a cult hit, so I'm sure I can find it somewhere... the question is if I would actually wear it or not
