Ah, I was watching Serenity the other day. It is the best movie to come from a TV series. The first time I watched it I was so in shock that they killed Wash I complete missed the rest of the movie.

There are a lot of people that are still really upset that they off'ed him and Book. Personally, I wish Book would have lived, I'd love to have seen his story, unfortunately, the actor didn't want to continue the part.

Twilight isn't about vampires, it's about teenagers with sharp teeth.
Vampires don't "sparkle" in the sun: they screech in horror, burst into flame and wither to ash.

I though Wash's death was really unnecessary, there was already enough Drama around the crew at that point. It did make a big impact though, which I suppose was what Joss was going for.

Book's SL was so interesting, and it never got fully explored I would have loved to have seen more of him too. But I suppose if the actor wants to go he wants to go

I understood why Book was killed. But I'll never be ok with Wash's death. It makes me sad every time.

Simon/Kaylee is one of my two OTP's, so yes, I ship in Firefly. I've written fanfics, made fanart and fanvids for this ship I completely and utterly adore Simon and Kaylee together. Two years ago I was at the only convention I know of where Sean and Jewel kissed (and I was squeeing like crazy). The convention video is now on youtube (finally!) and for those who wants to just see the kiss, it's about 08:15 into the video:

Huh? Where did you hear this? I've met Ron twice, now, and he's never ever expressed that he didn't want to continue as Book (the way I intepreted things he seemed to wish he had been more in Serenity than he was). He even told us a little bit that he knows about Book's past. Not overly spoilerish things, just minor fun things.

I was upset about it but I guess I should have seen it coming since Joss never ends with a long-standing couple staying together. In every one of his worlds the emphasis is on the bond with a group of friends being more important than the bond between partners.

Smeagol, there was an article I read when they originally did the casting for Serenity, and everyone was willing to come back, except for Ron, who was quite hesitant and needed some cajoling (according to the article) to get back into the role.

I'll have to see if I can find it.

It transferred really well to the big screen. I don't understand why it didn't have better box office.

Me too. Book's death advanced the story but I do wish we had learned more about his background. Wash's death wasn't necessary at all. The crew fighting off the Reavers at the end was exciting enough and his death added nothing to the story.

Thanks for the link smeagolkitten. hee ... Morena and Jewel joking that they had a fling ...

So, I rented the Russell Crowe/Christian Bale version of 3:10 to Yuma a week ago and who played Dr. Potter? Alan Tudyk aka Wash. This guy has quite the variety of film and television roles.

I was in a Barnes & Noble the other day and saw a Firefly role playing game. Didn't buy it, though.
