I was always assuming that it was John's baby, though did we ever get clarification what species she was?

I don't know....I guess you can say that Rygel grew some, but he always hid any concern over the facade of selfishness, so which did you choose to believe.

i thought Graza's child was that Grand Chancellor Mareks. if the child was John's they would be half Sebacean and half human. wasn't Graza Sebacean?

one thing i would've like to have seen was Chiana reunited with her brother.

I didn't think she was. She was too pale to be completely Sebacean.

I don't know....I like that Chiana and her brother are apart...they do more damage that way.

She was sebacean. Scorpy was the only mixed breed in the PK, at least of the rank of captain or higher. Grayza's paleness was a side effect of the implanted gland.

Speaking of Chiana, if I had had more time and writing ability, I probably would have taken a stab at writing a couple of fan fictions. The problem is that both of them would have been very ambitious projects way beyond my writing ability and free time. Both ideas involved alternate realities. I can't remember the other one but the one about Chiana was if she had either never come aboard Moya, or if she had been killed before the events of "A Bug's Life," Aeryn would have never been stabbed, John would have never gone to Scorpy's Gammack base, never would have been captured, never would have been tortured and gotten the chip in his head, and, as long as he would have been able to avoid Crais, might have lived a very different life. (Of course, the Uncharted Territories was a small neighborhood and the Moyans happened to have a knack for running into enemies, old and new alike, so it's still possible John would have ran into Scorpius.) Getting back to the issue at hand, however, Chiana's arrival and actions in "A Bug's Life" set in motion everything that happened to John because of Scorpius. He became a much darker character, capable of doing things that still shocked him and troubled him deeply in the "We're So Screwed" trilogy.

So, in my alternate universe, Chiana's arrival is a bad thing, right? Wrong. The twist is that as bad as it was for John and the UT because of Scorpius, without the arrival of Chiana, the Nebari's plans would have remained unknown and they would have taken the UT and the rest of the galaxy by surprise. Eventually, John would have to make the decision to alter the timeline to either arrange for Chiana's arrival on Moya and/or to prevent her death.

That is an intriguing story idea. You should take the time to write on it. Honestly, if you get some time, put some pages together and send it off to the publishing companies, maybe they'll buy it.

i agree with Cryostar. i've actually wondered that same thing myself. i've also wondered how things would've gone if crichton had not been twinned. my thinking is that he still would've gone with aeryn aboard talyn and (like talyn john) he would've gotton himself killed trying to save everyone. the rest of the storyline i think would've fallen in place, except that aeryn would raise her son on her own.

I don't think Aeryn would have had the stasis removed if John had been killed and there wasn't a twin. Remember that she only found out about the pregnancy while onboard the command carrier in "Into the Lion's Den." If there had been no twin, she probably never would have returned to Moya or would have only to pick up supplies on her way to find the former PK unit.

Even if she would have found out about the pregnancy, I doubt she would have wanted that painful reminder. She probably would have gone off to join the assassins and never looked back. It's not like she would have had to get an abortion, the embryo was in stasis and after however many years it was, it would have dissolved on its own.

I always liked how Aeryn referred to T-John as "Crichton" and then when she returned to Moya, she referred to M-John as "John." I really liked how in "Look at the Princess, Part I", Aeryn said "personal indulgences can fracture a small crew", and then the episode where the two crews unite is called "Fractures."
