you think they'll ever bring Farscape back to television? i read an article on the web somewhere that the writer's strike slowed down the process but they were still thinking of the future of Farscape. i found it on the Farscape Wiki.

I would say no.

If it was going to happen, it would have started with the webispodes....those are gone now, so if it does, it's going to be a long while.

bummer. i got into the show way after it was cancelled but i wish it would come back. i was surfing the web and i happened to come across the description for The Peackeeper Wars while looking at the Barnes and Noble website and it looked interesting so i went out and bought the dvd. that led to me buying the entire 4 seasons, since then i've been a rabid fan.

at least there is some great fan fiction out on the world wide web that i can always read.

You know, I'm quite surprised that the book market hasn't had a flood of Farscape books come out. I know a lot of SciFi types that would love them.

maybe since they were thinking about doing the webisodes and possibly bringing Farscape back to television they didn't see a need for books

just a theory. i would think jim henson would make some money bringing something like that out.

I would too. I wonder, since Disney bought Henson Co all those years ago, do they own the rights to Farscape?

i have no idea Cryostar. i didn't even know Disney bought the Henson Co.

if Sci-fi were to bring back Farscape i would think their ratings would go through the roof. the true fans never forget and i know Ben Browder has said that he would love to play John Crichton again. i see so much potential for new storylines.

in Bad Timing,Cricton told his dad right before he closed the wormhole to earth that he would contact him if he could, did he ever get the chance to contact his family again?

what was the journey to Hyneria like and what adventures did they have along the way, just seeing aeryn and john dealing with not only being a newly married couple but parents also.

so many ways to go. it's a shame. what do you think Cryostar?

I completely concur.

The story was so tight and focused on what they were doing that we rarely got to see much about anyone. We could always revisit the nebari and their plots. The Hynerians and their intrigues.....and .....well, you get the point, we could go on forever.

Regardless....it's in their hands.

i forgot about the nebari.it would've been nice to see chiana reunite with her brother. i felt for her finding out her brother was alive in A Clockwise Nrbari but only being able to see him in a holo message. it was funny seeing aeryn being all nice to everyone. although i have no doubt she cars about the entire crew the way she was acting was entirely out of character for her. not to mention d'argo and zhaan.

I no longer hope beyond hope that it will come back, mostly because I don't see it coming back to television and living up to what it once was. I think it will be like Babylon 5 and how Crusade just was a weak, hollow shell of the original series. I think that if Farscape does come back, it will be set many years into the future, with different main characters that won't hold a candle to John, Aeryn, D'Argo, Rygel, and Scorpius.

The story has already been told and while it wasn't in the way that was originally intended and wasn't even close to being satisfying (because so much went untold like the Delvians and the Nebari--who I always thought were the biggest threat in the UT, and what was told was rushed and condensced), it's over.

In some ways, I am in the final stage of mourning, acceptance. But there are still times I think about what could have been and am sad over what was lost. (Maybe that is what the title of that 2-parter really was about.)

nice post enigma777. i agreee that if it ever were to come back it probably wouldn't be as good as it was when it first came on television but i would still watch it.

i still have all 4 seasons and the mini-series on dvd that i can watch plus the tons of fan fiction that is out on the net. so, even though it's no longer on t.v. Farscape will live forever through fan fiction. it will never die.

So, what happened with the webisodes? Did the writers' strike and the new contracts with the writers' guild ruin all of that?

Looking back more closely at this page's posts and to expand on my previous post, yeah, there were so many more storylines that could have been (and would have been) explored and others that were rushed over would have been explored and resolved much more completely if they would have had the time. There was the whole story with the Delvians who seem to be engaged in a type of struggle somewhat comparable to the Nebari resistance vs. the establishment. I always thought the Nebari were most dangerous because their strategies were more subversive and based in infiltration and control, rather than the full frontal attack strategies of the PK and the Scarrans. It seemed to me that the Scarrans and the PK would ultimately have to work together (especially now that wormhole weaponry is no longer an option) along with the Nebari resistance to deal with the virus and the other strategies and technologies of the Nebari establishment/military.

There were smaller storylines that could have been revisited as well: The Scorvians vs. the Ilanics, Aeryn's life on the world in "The Locket", the builders and the leviathans, Pilot's homeworld, freeing the leviathan's from PK slavery, the enslaved/drugged world in "Thank God it's Friday, Again" (I liked and hated that episode) and so on. Of course, a future storyline would be John D'Argo meeting John and Katrella's daughter 80+ years in the future.

I mean really, the only thing that John was able to stop (temporarily) was the war between the PK and the Scarrans. I doubt the PK were going to change their ways in how they treated the worlds in their territories and the same goes for the scarrans.

i think from the way Cryostar explained it that based on the new contracts with the writer's guild the webisodes would be too expensive to make. i'd ask Cryostar for a better explanation but i think money is what it boils down to.

one of the main things i think the peacekeepers and the scarrans learned is, after seeing the wormhole weapon they realized how destructive it is and that they both don't want their world destroyed. they finally realized what Crichton was trying to tell them. you can tell it by the look on Stalek and Graza's faces.

i have heard that they still want to do the werbisodes but whether that will come to pass, no one knows. Ben Browder still is interested in playing John Crichton again.

Hiya E7....how's it been going?

That about covers it. Under the old contract, the webisodes where "Promo" material....so they didn't have to pay actors much, and the writers got squat. Under the new Contract, they have to pay for everything, so SciFi, being who scifi is, cut the lot of them.

Ben's Homer project might still make it, but as a real series.

E7, that's a great post and really highlights all the things that were left open. It's a big galaxy....there's so much happening, makes me sad.
