Yeah, but since I find it physically painful to leave Barnes & Noble without at least 50 pounds of books, it still cost me plenty.

Anyway, here is a Q&A from tvguide.com that was posted last Monday:
Quote:
Question: Any clue why Sci Fi hasn't re-aired episodes of The Dresden Files on Sunday nights? I watched the whole season and can't get enough of it. Paul Blackthorne was the perfect choice to play the quirky wizard. I'm hoping there will be a second season. Any news on that or on the release of the first season on DVD?— Emily
Matt Roush: It would take a better wizard than Harry to figure out the whys and wherefores of cable scheduling. Some shows air in perpetual repeats regardless of the broadcast cycle and others sit it out between seasons. I guess Sci Fi simply figured it could do better by resting the show for a while. As for a second season: No word yet, and from what I hear, they're not exactly in a rush to make the call. Maybe the execs are waiting to see how some of the new summer programming will do before making a decision. And the DVD question? That's not my beat. I suggest you visit our sister website, TVShowsOnDVD.com.

I fear this doesn't bode well for us, especially with news that BSG is only getting one more season.

I have just watched episodes 1 - 12 of The Dresden Files and I am seriously in love with it! I hope we get to see more.

I started the first book last night. So far, so good. Of course, I'm only on page 20 so what do I know.

On occasion I've decided by that point that it isn't for me, so if you like it so far, that's good.

I'm on the 4th book now, 'Summer Knight'. I quite enjoyed the first two books, but the pace definitely picks up in the 3rd book, 'Grave Peril'.

Here is information from tvshowsondvd.com:The Dresden Files DVD news: Announcement for The Dresden Files - The Complete 1st Season | TVShowsOnDVD.com. I don't know if I'm just being delusional, but I like that the set is called "The Complete 1st Season." Makes me think a second season is likely.

Thanks for the info.

for the dvds!

I have 3 or 4 more episodes to watch. The last one I watched was the 'Bob' centered episode. We got a lot of background info on both characters which I enjoyed a lot

Book wise, I have yet to read the third novel but I started to listen to the fourth today

DVDs are now available for pre-order. Choose your favorite retailer. List price is $39,99, but I'm sure you can get it for less with minimal effort.

Must have something to do with Canada since amazon.com does have it available for pre-order. As does barnesandnoble.com.

I gather the DVD will theoretically include "unaired" pilot for the series. This should be an extended version of the episode Storm Front, but it's unclear exactly which cut of the episode it will be - I believe there was a 2 hour version originally, and possibly a second 1 hour cut. I gather one of the main differences from the version that aired is that Bob should make an "appearance", although in the pilot he wasn't a ghost, he was a spirit trapped in a fireplace for some reason (rather than the skull from the books).

Speaking of Bob/Terrance Mann ... I was recently reorganizing my music collection and I realized I have Terrance Mann on CD: he played the original Inspector Javert in the Broadway production of Les Mis.

I picked up some of the books today. Couldn't get the first three so i'm starting at number 4.

I really hope there is a second season of the show.
