The Dead Zone

Hopefully this thread sticks around... it got lost in the clutter of the TV board.

This is my favorite scifi show after Angel b/c it's very well written and I like most of the characters on the show. I was relieved that JJ (little johnnie) was replaced in Season 2 b/c the S1 JJ felt like a bad fit b/c he kinda acted as if he was mentally slow... to put it mildly. Maybe it's just bad acting.

has anyone rented the Dead Zone dvd of the first 2 eppies of the show?? The commentary was really great b/c it gave you angles and POV's that you didn't notice before.

I love this show too. Here in the UK, the new season starts on 10th Feb.

I think my favorite episodes last season must have been Shaman and Netherworld.

I saw almost all of the first season, I missed a couple tho It was v good tho, what I saw! And the last episode was WOW

Anyone see the old Dead Zone film, starring Christopher Walken? It's bizarre. Probably best you DONT watch it if you want to remain completely spoiler free on where the TV series is likely headed... (although, I obviously expect the series to diverge quite a bit)

I wouldn't mind seeing it—I Nikki DeBoer—but I missed the first season completely. Didn't know there were DVDs, though—I'll have to look into that.

The new season? The New VI and Space up here just started showing it a couple weeks ago. How long has it been on? The "New episode" last night was the Hockey player having heart trouble and he got hired as assistant coach for the school hockey team. It was the third episode since they started showing it. It looks like we got it from the start. But I guess we are behind up here. But I do like this show and glad it has gone past season 1.

Actually, my favorite of S2 was "Ascent" where Johnnie goes into Walt's mind and saves him from dying. I just loved seeing Walt's perspective on how he sees johnnie smith.

And I agree that Shaman (if that's the one where he helps/gets helped by the indian to avoid annihilation by the Volcano)... it was really awesome how they both helped each other.

I love The Dead Zone aswell, still waiting for it to start over here in the UK.

I think my favourite episodes were Netherworld and Here There Be Monsters.

I remember watching Shaman but I can't remember what it was about

Shaman was the first episode of the series that my mother watched....Now she's hooked!

The shaman was played by one of her favorite actors Adam Beach who was in Windtalkers with Nicholas Cage.
My mother who HATES violence, blood, gore ect.. went to see it because he was in it.

Chris Bruno who plays Walt is a nice guy,
I got to meet him once a few years ago when he was playing in a celebrity softball game.

that's cool Magic. Did you know who he was prior to seeing him at the softball game? I'm not aware of his previous work, but I think he does a bang up job as Walt.

I want to see Bruce in an episode that features him more than just comic relief. In There be Monsters where Johnnie and him went to the town that tried to burn johnnie at the stake was really awesome.

Yes I did, he was the reason I went to the game.
He was playing Dennis Wheeler on the soap oprea Another World at the time.

He left Another World after being on for about 2 years, He went to another soap oprea where he played a gay character (One of the first on daytime)
After that he went to Hollywood with his then girlfriend Alicia Coppola and did some guest star spots.
When he was chosen for the role of Walt I heard he was working as a stand up comedien to make ends meet.
He has a brother named Dylan who also works as an actor.

Thanks for the insight Magic I think everyone started up in Daytime tv.

It's funny that you start to see actors everywhere once you notice them. I saw Nicole de Boer in The Outer Limits with the guy that replaced Mulder on the Xfiles.... and she turned out to be an alien w/ bones jutting out of her back. It's a very freaky image

I really liked the latest episode. I liked that fact that his powers actually had the potential to hamper the future instead of always being a prophet of preventing disasters.

the fact that Reverend Purdy said that how did johnnie know that he "fixed" it for the better instead of doing more harm.

Hey Yoss, hows it going old pal? Finally found my way over to this thread.

Anyhows, Dead Zone has gotten better in the second season in my opinion. I think that the last 2 episodes "The Outsider" and "Precipitate" were highly entertaining. They made the viewer care for the weekly throwaway characters. This show and "Miracles" on ABC are the only 2 shows recently that have been able to do so effectively.

The J-Lo part was hilarious. As was many spots in the entire episode of "Precipitate". I didnt even really miss all the other characters like Sarah, Walt, JJ, and Purdy. But looks like we will get a heavy dose of that next week.

Cant wait to see what Stillman is up to.

Miss Cranky-Pants 02-10-2003 12:56 PM

I'm getting to see the new series tonight

Something had to give and unfortunately Enterprise is the one to go (I think it gets repeated in the week sometime).
