Original Sci-Fi/Fantasy stories: Revisited #1

okay, we had a thread like this before, but now it is missing, so I thought I would start a new one.

Why?

Because I have a new story, and I would like to share it.

Prices Unknown

Anyone else got a story to share?

Hmm, great idea. From your experiences with the old thread, is there really enough people out there writing original scifi/fantasy to make the thread, well, lively enough? If yes, awesome, I'm definitively impressed

As for your story, I'm a bit confused, it kinda sounds like only the first chapter of many, but because of the layout I couldn't really find any other chapters.

Fairies, hmm, so it's a fantasy story I see. How long have you been working on it? And how many stories have you written so far? I really don't know about others, but for me the cool thing about the internet and internet authors is that you might be able to find out more about the piece of art and the process of creating it. I dunno, maybe you could give up a little info, what YOU think the story is about or what inspired you to write it, what your plans for it are or just any little insider stories about let say the character creation

[again just an idea by a pathetic NON-WRITER schmuck like me ]

Um... I know that there are some people around here who write original stories in these genres. I am hoping there will be enough interest in it to keep it alive this time.

As for the story... There is nothing more to it. It is the whole story, and I am not going to be adding anything to it. (at least, not that I am aware of right now... )

How long have I been working on it?
Well, I started it at about 6 this morning and finished it around 8 this morning.

How many stories have I written?
I can't even begin to imagine how many. I have 17 stories and two poems hosted at FictionPress.net. Not all of them are fantasy, and I doubt any could be considered Sci-Fi, but, they are all there just the same.

Origins of the story:
Well, late last night, I was searching for some images of fairies, and I came across a picture of a woman hanging her head in sorrow as she stood knee deep in water... I was also thinking about the destructive nature of Man, and how Man rarely gives any thoughts to the consequences of their actions. I guess the seeds were planted. When I got up this morning, I wrote it.

Other info:
I am not really sure what it is saying. Maybe it is saying that we, as a society, should be more aware of the things we destroy in the name of "progress". It does have some similarities to another story I wrote, called Nature's Surprises. Are the two stories connected? I couldn't even begin to imagine.

My plans for it? I am not not sure that I have any plans for it. I just hope that anyone who reads it likes it. And, if it makes them think, then all the better.

Other than that, I am not certain what I can say about it.

I that that's not it but it reminds me of this:

Grin maybe that's just me, but to me it felt like it would totally go on with the girl going out and trying to change the world.

Maybe you can give us like a summary, just which ones you really like or which ones have a story to go with them. Or which ones you think say they most about yourself. Again, just an idea. Only if you want to.

Thanks for the link Rob! I enjoyed the story. Personally, I do see similiarities with your previous story 'Nature's Surprises'.

Rob, that was a really cool story. It made me think of Fern Gully It was really cool though

I was wondering if anyone could help me come up with a name for a country for a story I'm writing. I have two of them : Nisahrin and Ithranin, but I need a third. I want something starting with an E.
If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it

LolaRuns - Is that second picture from one of the Acorna books?

Mr. Sarcasmo - Your writing is very evocative and visual; I really got very clear mental pictures. Great descriptions. A little of a sad view but I like your ending.
I know what you mean about specific images triggering stories. That's what does it for me a lot of the time, an image or a word or phrase that just starts to build up.

I'm working on a story right now, but I've been so busy that I haven't been able to devote much time to it. I'm going to research some mythology for it.

If anyone's interested in a writing group, click my sig. *shameless Inklings plug*
I think it would be awesome if we could post some original fantasy or science fiction on this board. When done well they can be very creative and really amazing. I'm sure people here have some great stories to tell.

Andrea, when I read your post I thought of one, but now I forgot. I'll try and remember it. (It was probably not great though )

Thanks! I'd be very appreciative if you could remember and I'm sure it was just fine!
