| Moderator Support Team   | Dead Like Me Appreciation #2: Because We Miss Our Gang of Reapers! Welcome to the 2nd Dead Like Me Appreciation Thread  Georgia "George" Lass (Ellen Muth) is an 18-year-old college dropout who has no job skills and seems unable to take an interest in anything, including her own life. She projects an air of cynicism that infuriates her mother, baffles her father, and intimidates her younger sister. When her mother, Joy (Cynthia Stevenson), insists that George get a job, she applies to a temp agency that sends her out as a file clerk. Her lunch break — and her life — are cut short when a toilet seat from the Mir space station drives her into the pavement. George does not realize that she is dead until Rube (Mandy Patinkin), the kindly leader of a team of "grim reapers," points out her remains. Rube takes George under his wing and introduces her to the other members of his undead group: Mason (Callum Blue), Roxy (Jasmine Guy) and Daisy (Laura Harris). In addition, Rube explains to George that in order for her soul to move on to its next level, she has a quota of souls she must help remove from those on Earth who are about to die. The members of Rube's team of reapers are all, like George, people who died with unresolved issues. They still have lessons to learn that — for one reason or another — they failed to learn in life. They move about the Pacific Northwest in the full light of day. They walk the city streets and eat at all-night diners, just like anyone else. They have to find their own places to live, cook, eat and do their laundry. They look just like everyone else, but as "un-dead" grim reapers they appear physically different to the living than they did when they were alive. Dead Like Me revolves around George¹s adventures as she comes into contact with an eclectic group of people who are about to meet their maker, and as she learns to interact with her fellow reapers, with Rube, and with her new/old boss, Dolores Herbig. She also looks in on her grieving family and must cope with how things continue to change without her. All of these interactions lead her to ask: What if death is not the end? What if it is not even an escape, but an opportunity to accept responsibility? … What if death is a wake-up call? The Cast/Characters: Georgia "George" Lass ~ Ellen Muth Georgia "George" Lass is the youngest member of an undead group of "grim reapers." At the tender age of 18 she met her demise and is now learning to adjust to her new role as a reaper. She looks at the world from the outside with sarcasm and a wry sense of humor. Being undead has given her the opportunity to gain a better understanding of life than she had the first time around. Rube ~ Mandy Patinkin Rube is the leader of the grim reaper team. His in-depth knowledge of the world and his gentle demeanor make him the mentor everyone wishes they had. He helps each member of the reaper team find their place within the realm of the undead. Roxy ~ Jasmine Guy Roxy is the sassy, street-smart member of this troupe of grim reapers. She has no problem "telling it like it is." As the veteran of the group, she makes sure everyone knows their place within the reaper team's hierarchy. Mason ~ Callum Blue Mason is the kind of guy who any girl would be attracted to — in this life or afterlife. This "grim reaper" is good-looking, mischievous, and just bad enough to be fascinating, without being dangerous. If only his work ethic were as powerful as his charms, he might already have met his soul-quota. Daisy Adair ~ Laura Harris Daisy Adair is an actress who, before meeting her demise on the set of Gone with the Wind, was better known for her off-screen sexual exploits than for her on-screen performances. Daisy hasn't given up hope of a comeback from the afterlife … although she hasn't heard from her agent in decades. Joy Lass ~ Cynthia Stevenson Joy is George's mother — a stubborn, headstrong woman who had an inability to connect with her daughter in life and is having an even harder time connecting with her own feelings after George's death. Clancy Lass ~ Greg Kean Clancy is George's father, a university professor who has a terrible relationship with George's mother, Joy. He's at a loss as to how to deal with George's untimely death and Reggie's subsequent malaise. Regina "Reggie" Lass ~ Britt McKillip Reggie is Georgia's younger misfit sister. She has her own peculiar way of coming to terms with the sudden death of her big sister. Like most pre-teens, she has a hard time communicating with her parents and is often confused by a world that is constantly changing around her. Dolores Herbig ~ Christine Willis Dolores Herbig is George's boss at the Happy Time temp agency. As much as George pushes people away, Dolores always seems to get through. Dolores has seen it all, dropping one-liners about her Web cam or her affair with the cleaning man. No matter what George is going through, she can always count on Dolores for a wink or a smile to show her someone else has been there, too. Supporters: 1. -TheKen- 2. JillyHalliwell 3. | I loved this show so much. Ellen Muth ROCKS. (First saw her in The Truth About Jane, then followed her here.) It took me a while to watch the second season (never had Showtime, so I saw season 1 on DVD and by the time season 2 came out, I had heard of the unfortunate demise, so I wanted to live a fairy tale land until the movie came out), but that season was just as brilliant. | Master Fan  | Had no idea this thread was around . Myself and my son loved this series . Finny the last season of Smallville had two vets of Dead like Me Callum Blue and Dolores Herbig ~ Christine Willis. Both as very evil characters . Funny in the Dead Like me movie the new Daisy(Sarah Wynter) was the actress who played laura/Daisy's sister on 24 Season 2 of 24 8 yrs ago . I thought how ironic that two actress who played major roles on 24 ended up in the same role on e replacing the other . I have seen Joy (Cynthia Stevenson) in many movies or Tv shows a a mother . Mandy , I got to see him on a series i got into last season ,Criminal minds He lasted 2 seasons and left the show due to violent nature of the series . Cm is now heading into S-7 . He was almost the same type of leader calm talking easy going but very smart . I really wish they could do one more movie direct to DVD.
