A lot of people are furious about the movie, but I'm not bothered, because it's not pretending to be part of the same canon as the show. I'd be bothered if Joss made a Buffy movie linked to the show, because he'd probably use the opportunity to screw up the Buffyverse more.

I have a feeling the movie won't be very good, but hopefully I would be pleasantly surprised.

He screwed up Buffy, screwed up Angel, said various things I don't appreciate, and put out a series of awful comics which he insisted were canon Buffy. In the comics Angel (with a soul) tries to destroy the world because a dog told him to, and he does this by having sex with Buffy in a porno issue. The sex causes demons to flood into the world, destroying cities. Buffy saves the world by destroying all the magic in the world, banishing the demons. Meanwhile Xander is dating Dawn, Buffy has been wanting Xander until Angel came along (Angel was the villain at that point, but Buffy had sex with him anyway). Buffy can fly and is super super strong, like Superman. Andrew is somehow capable of training slayers. Buffy robs banks. I don't know what Joss is smoking.

I haven't read the comics (didn't know there were any comics - see how much I know!), but that sounds very, very weird. Not sure I approve.

Well, they killed off Giles in the comics and all the characters hate Angel because of his part in the Bad Stuff. That closes the so-called "Season 8". Now they're going to do "Season 9" and probably come up with some more nutso storylines.

Giles left everything to Faith in his will. He had planned to kill Buffy.

Did I tell you about the bit where Buffy finds out Angel's the big villain, so she goes and has sex with him, flying up in the air while doing it (over endless panels of the porno issue) and this lets demons into the world to destroy the world and Bufy has to save the world by destroying all the magic (which banishes those demons)? Characters are pissed off at Buffy for "betraying" them by having sex with Angel and Willow won't forgive Buffy for ending the magic. So Buffy basically get blamed and punished for having sex. Also, it seems she was under supernatural influence when she had sex with Angel, which kind of makes it rape. And that's what characters are blaming her for.
