I would say that while Call to arms was ok, and the action was nice, both it and Legend of the Rangers seemed rushed, as if JMS was hurried to write them, or forced (by contract) to create them. We know that he's got the talent, read any of the comix that he's over, and you'll see that he can still weave a wonderful tale. I'm just hoping that since he's being given time, he can do it again.

As for ivonova, I can't see which way, but I'm hoping that she's back. Since this is a feature length movie, original contracts won't matter, so she might be up for it.

Twilight isn't about vampires, it's about teenagers with sharp teeth.
Vampires don't "sparkle" in the sun: they screech in horror, burst into flame and wither to ash.

I'm hopeful about the movie possibility. (Of course, I also think that Crusade had some interesting premises, and would have developed more if it was given more time - they were just starting to really develop the story arc. Oh, and it would have helped if the episodes were shown in order and all. ) I wonder what it's going to be about. I'm pretty excited about this - first the Firefly movie, now this.

I would love to see Ivanova back. One of my main reasons for not liking S5 as much was that there was this huge hole in the show where Ivanova used to be. But I guess we'll see. They might not even have many of the original cast, just have it set in the B5 universe.

Either way, I'm intrigued.

The sad part about crusade is that they were just starting to get to the meat of the story line. Earths real involvment with the Shadow and the Draahk. That earth was carrying out attacks on its own ships with modified shadow vessels, etc etc.

Well, I gotta say, I didn't get the impression of much "meat" of any sort in Crusade. It just seemed to me a lacklustre mess. The way it was going and the way Legend of the Rangers turned out, I've got my doubts it would have gotten better if it hadn't been cancelled.

If you remember, though, that's the way that Bab5 started in the first season, what seemed like a lot of aimless disconnected shows, then JMS built a story from the various random events. Almost made you have to go back and watch the first and second seasons to make sure what happened was really back there.

Crusade just never got the opportunity.

I don't agree. B5 in the first season was good. Crusade was mostly crap. Season 1 B5 didn't strike me as the sort of lacklustre mess Crusade was. B5 season 1 was sharp and quality, Crusade was dull and uninspired all around. And judging by the progressive decline in JMS's work on B5-verse tv stuff (Call to Arms to Crusade to Legend of the Rangers), I'm inclined to think that if Crusade had been given more time, it would have gotten worse, not better.

So, exactly what do you have positive feelings about?

Plenty of things. But not things that don't deserve such feelings. For example, B5 was the best SF show ever (positive feelings) but Crusade was a cheap spin-off which looked like JMS wasn't putting in any effort (not deserving of positive feelings).

Well, I was out mowing the yard.

I think that some of the problem is that when it's good, it's so good; that when it isn't good, even mediocre seems terrible by comparison. This goes for the Star Treks, (Star Wars)es, B5s, Buffys, etc.

I liked Major Kira on DS9, BTW. Not so much 7of9, though.

Kira was great, 7 of 9 was a gross-out mega pain.

I was trying to electrocute myself in the back yard.

Mediocre is terrible. Life is short, not enough time to waste it on mediocre stuff.
