That sucks. Is it gone/lost permanently in hyperspace or can it be found?

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to recover it. I wish there were.

There was some thread cleanup going on at FF this weekend to try to improve board performance, it's possible the old thread accidentally got deleted in the process.

Oh. Well, that explains that. I was going crazy looking all over the board trying to find it.

I'm slightly reassured to know that it's not me. Too bad about the thread, though.

I finally finished watching my Season 2 DVD set. With my overall enthusiasm for seasons 3 and 4, I think that I tended to underestimate the emotional impact of the second season in my memory. Rewatching it, though, reminds me of how intense some of those episodes were. Yes, it's still heavily in the setting-up stage, but there are some great moments. G'Kar sitting in the council chamber as Londo announces the terms of the Narn surrender and demands that he leave has to be one of the most emotional moments for me. It's amazing how much G'Kar can convey, even when all he's doing is sitting there in silence. And then he starts to speak. I think I'd watch just about any Babylon 5 related movie or show that had G'Kar in it, just for him.

Actually, I've found it best to start at the last episode of season 5, and watch it forward....things make more sense.

I've never tried watching the episodes in backwards order. Maybe when I eventually have them all on DVD I'll give that a try.

Anla: Season three is my favorite, and then season four, and then season two. I love those three... My least favorite is the first season. Season five was okay--the telepath thing left a lot to be desired, but the second half of the Centauri conflict and the part after that were really good. I loved the part where they showed Londo walking to the Centaurum to become emperor and the images of the events of his life on B5 and his death scene are flashed before our eyes as they flash through his mind. There are few scenes in cinema and fewer scenes in TV that can take my breath away at the profound impact of the scene. That is one of them. B5 had several (like G'Kar cutting open his hand in front of Vir.)

S2 was great. I loved ...And Now for a Word; GROPOS; A Race Through Dark Places; The Coming of Shadows; Divided Loyalties; Confessions and Lamentations; All Alone in the Night; The Long Twilight Struggle; Hunter, Prey; and In the Shadow of Z'ha'Dum.

10 awesome episodes is not bad for a season that most people don't pick as the best or their most favorite.

Brilliant list...however, I'd add one more to that list, it was towards the end. "Comes the Inquisitor"

Any sci fi show that can somehow reference Jack the Ripper is a great show.

That was a good episode, and solving the mystery of Jack the Ripper was cool, but it's not one of my top S2 picks, even though that's the episode with the Vir/G'Kar scene.

Yup yup yup.

Hey, just thought you'd like to know, I pulled this from isnnews.net:

TOP SCIFI CHANNEL SHOWS:
Stargate SG-1 1.7
Stargate SG-1 1.7
Stargate SG-1 1.6
Odyssey, part 2 1.5
Stargate SG-1 1.4
Stargate SG-1 1.4
Odyssey, part 1 1.2
Stargate SG-1 1.2
Stargate SG-1 1.1
Odyssey, part 1 1.1
Source: Nielsen Galaxy Report, 2/23/04 - 2/29/04.

Isn't it sad that 7 of the top 10 audiences have the same show? Doesn't it mean that YOU HAVE NO OTHER PROGRAMMING? Just a thought.

Well, why not? After cancelling The Invisible Man, they axed The Chronicle, and then, of course, Farscape. Have I mentioned lately how much these people suck?

And, I'm sorry, but even before the cancellation of Farscape, I never found SG-1 that interesting, or good. Maybe it's because I prefer a show that hasn't been dragged out well past its prime, a show that has ongoing storylines that are compelling and critical.

And, of course, if there was any chance of me getting into SG-1, it sure as hell is gone now. Maybe in my next lifetime. Well, maybe not.

I gave up on SG-1 a long time ago. I've gone back to it recently, and rewatched five seasons of it ... and I've still not found it as engaging as I have shows like Farscape or Babylon 5. They're just in a completely different category. SG-1 is like starting from square one every ep ... sure, there's a history there, and they refer to past events all the time, but the characters and the story just never really goes anywhere or builds to anything. In that way, I can understand why it gets decent ratings ... there's nothing too deep going on, a viewer that hasn't watched in weeks can jump right in and understand 99% of what's going on.

The saddest part for me is, where the Sci-Fi channel goes, so goes Space. Space isn't big enough to produce it's own shows, so it relies on a certain portion of its programming coming from Sci-Fi. The programming coming from Sci-Fi must be pretty thin these days, which is why Space is actually going to air a show like "Mad Mad House".
