Your news resources

Hope there isn't such a topic already, I looked till page 2 and found nothing.

I wondered where you guys all get your news from... Doesn't matter if TV, newspaper or the web, just post it! If there is a webpage, posting the link would be greatly appreciated. You can never have too many resources.

If enough guys post in this thread, how about creating a linklist? Just an idea.

My resources are:

TV:

local programmes
CNN Europa
CNBC Europe
Euronews
NTV

Newspaper:

local newspapers

Internet:

local sites
Guardian Unlimited
Independent Online Edition > Home
WorldNews

I think we had a thread like this many moons ago but it bears repeating I think.

I'm BBC News 24 (www.bbc.co.uk/news), Independent, Sunday Times, CNN and Yahoo news junkie.

If I'm abroad, CNN is usually where I head, although in the US I like MSNBC.

Yahoo News, CNN, AOLNews, and sometimes MSNBC if I'm online. If I'm channel surfing, it's usually CNN and MSNBC. BBC America is great too for a different perspective.

For the very odd/graphic/weird news, I stick with dailyrotten.com

MSNBC, the morning shows (both American and Canadian), The Gazette (local newspaper), co-workers (I work for a magazine, so it is kinda of our business), CNN.com... and, yeah, The Daily Show With John Stewart. I mean, you have to take a comedy show with a grain of salt, but the opening monologues is always about what's going on in the world.

@ sunnykerr: You work for a magazine? That's cool ... what is it about?

Well, technically, I work for three magazines. I'm a freelancer. But I have a full-time gig with "Reader's Digest Magazines" (Canada). So I work for Reader's Digest and Our Canada, which is... wouldn't you know it, about Canada.

So, neither of those is exactly The Economist or even The New Yorker, but we do deal in news to some extent, even if it is in a more annedoctal format. And, I know, not exactly the hippest magazine to work for, but it's got a solid reputation in the industry and it's just a really great environment to work in.

I also work for a quaterly contemporary-arts magazine. But my office is at Reader's Digest. That's my base.

Hey, Reader's Digest is nothing to sniff at. The journalism business is tough to break into at all and you're on one of the most famous publications around!

Sonds really cool!

But isn't it hard to write for 3 magazines at one time?

I get a lot from the Gazette as well, same newspaper as Sunny Other than that, sometimes the Globe and Mail, people email me things, or I check Instapundit occasionally but not so much anymore (his slant has changed, I think, so it's less interesting to me). I never watch TV news. Google News is also very useful (Yahoo News isn't bad, but I'm furious with Yahoo so I refuse to use their enws site )

Google news is great for research as it scoops the same story together from different sources.
