Woman Has 15th Baby, And Wants More

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5060048/

Arkansas woman has 15th child
Father says mother might want to have even more

Updated: 3:44 p.m. ET May 25, 2004FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Michelle Duggar is all smiles after delivering her 15th child, but she may be ready for more, her family says.

Mother and child were doing well, although Michelle, 37, was feeling some discomfort because the birth was her second by Caesarean section, said her mother-in-law, Mary Duggar.

“She’s a trouper. She’s just all smiles,” Mary Duggar said.

Jackson Levi Duggar was born at 10:52 a.m. Sunday, weighing 7 pounds 8 ounces and measuring 20 inches.

“She was wanting to do it naturally,” Mary Duggar said. But the delivery was by C-section because one of Jackson’s shoulders was presenting first.

“I call him Jumping Jack because he would go in a circle,” she said.

More on the way?
The baby’s father, former state legislator Jim Bob Duggar, sounded a bit tired but happy after returning home Monday. He said his wife and new son were doing fine. He said he leaves the decision up to Michelle on whether to have more children.

“I have always left it up to Michelle because she’s actually the one that carries them and does all the labor,” he said. “But we both love children. Even yesterday, she said she would like to have some more.”

Michelle probably will be in Washington Regional Medical Center for three or four days, said her mother-in-law, who is taking care of the 14 other children.

Michelle, who home schools her children and is helping to build the family’s new home in Tontitown from the ground up, started having her babies when she was 21, four years after she and Jim Bob married. Her 38-year-old husband is a real estate businessman.

Their children include two sets of twins, and the parents have stuck to the letter “J” for their names. There is Joshua, 16; Jana and John-David, 14; Jill, 13; Jessa, 11; Jinger, 10; Joseph, 9; Josiah, 7; Joy-Anna, 6; Jeremiah and Jedidiah, 5; Jason, 4; James, 2; and Justin, 1.

I had to get to the name of Jim Bob to realize they were hicks.

GOOD GOSH.

And who names their kid Jedidiah anymore?

Good for them, though. I couldn't handle THAT many kids. It must be great to have that much love in a family.

I just realized that all her kids have a first name starting with the letter J... and not the most common one.
How she can support them all, is beyond my understanding, but I really doubt all of them will be helped by their parents to pay college fees.

I think 15 kids is too much. A guy I went to school with was from a family of 11 kids, and they almost never had time for him.

Kids need more than just food and clothes--they need attention, ands love, and a parent they can talk to at any time. I have a hard time imagining that a family with 15 kids will have time for each individual.

Ick. Look at those kids in their matching outfits. No personality, just the same hair and ties and smiles. Creepy.

her husband is a former congressman and a real estate developer. Generally I agree that people can not support 15 children..but it looks like this family has the money to spread around...now love and attention on the other hand..might be in short supply

I still think it's a crazy thing to do, affording things for 15 kids, former congressman and real estate manager or not. It's 15 times more clothes, more food, a house with enough places, cars enough, more tools for school, more furnitures for their rooms (even if they'll all have to share their rooms with one or two siblings) etc, etc... I also doubt the parents will be able to afford some vacation for their 15 kids during summer every year, or the common activities like music (buying instruments, music sheets) or sports (buying the different accessories and sportwear, shoes), or a trip organized by school. Not to mention the 15 college fees that will have to be paid almost every year, since they're all so close in age.
My cousin who lives in Seattle has four kids, and although he belongs to the wealthiest social category (important job in THE big software company helps), he has to save money since his kids' birth to pay their college tuitions.

yeah, but I think it's more in the suburb than in the city.
And Ferrari? He's all about Ford family cars. And bicycles. To tell you how much he loves to drive...
Rich people can be so weird sometimes. My cousin collects bicycles and Jim Bob Duggar collect kids.

Huh. I bet that woman is indestructible. Anyone who can give birth to and care for 15 children gets my respect and awe.

That said, is she crazy!? Holy crap. That's a lot of pain.
