Saturday, Maine joined the ranks of such gluttonous gastronomic events by holding the World Lobster Eating Contest -- and the winner isn't even a local. Sonya Thomas, of Alexandria, Va., beat all comers in a Kennebunk crustacean consumption competition by consuming 38 lobsters in 12 minutes. That translates to 9.75 pounds of lobster -- enough to win her $500 and a trophy belt appropriately called "the Claw." Her nearest speed-eating competitor managed to eat just 7.5 pounds of lobster. | I don't think i can even eat 38 lobsters like like a week! My stomach would collapse....! Whoa!!! Only $500?! She so should have gotten more! __________________ Ryan: You guys made out? | how can someone appreciate lobster with a contest, ughh! I read somewhere recently that lobster just 200 years ago was the food that the "poor and mentally insane" ate-can you believe that! What a change-lucky guys though back then I'd say! | |||
