Why are you here?

If you're over 18 and support the WAR in Iraq... then what the hell are you doing here? Why aren't you out there to fight for what you believe in?

It's so easy to say you support the war but if it was your turn to serve... I doubt you'd all still think the same way. And if you're going to say that you would... then tell me.. why aren't you there right now?

Because it is a choice.

You don't know what anyone would do if the "draft" caused them to serve.

I am not in the military right now because I chose not to enlist. And, I do not need to defend that choice to you.

You can support the war without serving in it. Kind of like, how people say they support the troops but not the war.

But isn't this war what you believe in?? So how come you're not fighting for what you believe in? Or do you love your life too much to give it up for your country?

And I know it's a choice so there's no need for you to remind me of that.. Thanks.

Yes, it is a war I believe in. I am not fighting over there because I choose not to. And actually I think I do need to remind it is a choice.

And no I don't love myself too much to die for my country - I am simply not enlisted in my country's volunteer service because I choose not to. I don't think I really need to defend my personal reasons for not enlisting to you.

And again, you can support a war without serving in it. Just like I said before - anti-war people claim to support the troops without the war.

No, you don't need to "defend" your choices to me. I'm just curious as to how people who claim to believe this war is the right thing, aren't fighting for it.

This thread looks like a blatant attempt to start a fight with someone, so I'm completely staying out of it.....

Not trying to start a fight at all. I'm simply asking why the people who support the war, aren't fighting for what they believe is right.

But okay I hear you.

no, ambular, she was definately trying to start a fight...

"It's so easy to say you support the war but if it was your turn to serve... I doubt you'd all still think the same way."

This is getting rather ridiculous ledi... "not trying to start a fight?"...Let's be honest and call a spade a spade....

If you're going to make claims, then at least be willing to admit that you are making them to get a rise out of us.

Now, as for why I am not over there myself, that really isn't any of your business and I don't appreciate the implication that it's because of cowardice or lack of conviction on my part. I would be over there if I could.

For those who said they dont need to defend their choice of not enlisting, Isn't that really the point of this forum? Why are you here? answer the question instead of saying its a choice and you choose to stay. Thats obvious, now what we're trying to figure out is WHY your not fighting in it. If your not going to explain your views, dont post.

Well you didn't tell us why you're not there. You just said you'd be there if you could. So why are you not there?

I think you should be there since one of the reasons why you support Bush so much is because "he went" to Iraq.

I would honestly send to Iraq only the people who supported this war. You're just lucky I'm not your president or you and others would be in Iraq right now. Because it's horrible that a lot of people who don't believe in this war, are dying for it.

But anyway, back on topic...

I really don't think I would join the army if I was completely unwilling to go to war. And I would have a hard time believing that anyone who did would have dismissed the prospect of them being send overseas in a war as a distant reality. You don't become involved in the military if you don't expect that something like this may very well happen.

So, sometimes I don't see why people who are here can claim that Bush forced our troops into war who had no business being there - have any of you actually spoken to the people who have been sent over to Iraq? I've read many stories about people who are proud to have the chance to serve our country. Likewise, I have read many interviews with some family members of men that have died in the service, saying it was a great honor for them.

Which begs the question, why is everyone who is sent to Iraq seen as a helpess victim? That doesn't mean to say that a lot of people in the military don't support Bush or what he does, but you seem to be generalizing an awful lot.
