I got Obama on all but one (I didn't see what empathy had to do with the judiciary). So I'm not shocked at all.

The only annoyance I came across is that both candidates specifically said that they believe marriage ought to be between a man and a woman. And I think that's balderdash. I believe we're not equal until everyone who wants to get married can legally get married.

I absolutely, emphatically agree. Unfortunately, no Presidential candidate for either major party will come out in support of gay marriage during an election- too many people DON'T think it should be legal (for whatever mythical and ridiculous reason).

I don't mean to sound naive. I know I'm about to sound naive, so that's why I say that. So, yeah, I don't mean to sound naive... but what does personal beliefs have to do with the job of a president?

I mean, I get the importance of character and intelligence and eloquence. To a certain degree, I also understand the importance of charisma and coming off as a nice guy.

But, seriously, why does a man's personal religious beliefs have to do with his ability to be president or his desirability as a candidate? Jefferson was a slave owner and he wrote "all men are born equal." Was he less right because he clearly didn't fully believe it?

Again, I get it. And this isn't about me being naive. Just tired. And annoyed.

It's all a LOT of people vote on. It's all quite a few people in "Middle America" vote on. And that's not me being stereotypical- that's based on statistical evidence. A lot of people still won't vote for Obama because they still think he's MUSLIM. Which, #1, no he's not, and #2, why is this such a big deal? Because people are ignorant and think all Muslims are Al Qaeda terrorists, that's why.

Think about it this way- Bush essentially won the last based on abortion and gay marriage. Two issues which are pretty much entirely Christian in origin. Religion has far more to do with elections than I like to think about. I'm really unhappy with how much religion is in my local and national laws- I don't want anyone else's religon infringing on ME. I don't want to be forced to live by their religious standards. But it happens all the time even though it's not supposed to.

I will NEVER, not EVER, understand why people so strongly oppose gay marriage, in closing. I don't get it. Why do you care? Why is it any of your business? What does it MATTER, who someone else loves or marries?

Not to go on a tangent here, but it's ironic that those same Religious Right members believe in the death penalty when that goes completely against their faith.
