US Uni Massacre Game Website Taken Down

US uni massacre game website taken down

May 17, 2007 03:58pm
Article from: AAP

THE website of the author of a controversial PC game based on last month's Virginia Tech massacre in the US has been taken offline.

Sydney man Ryan, 21, posted the amateur game, which follows the actions of the US university killer, on his website, [website taken out], and a game sharing site [website taken out].

The game had appeared on Googumproduce along with his other media creations but this morning a notice on the site said the account had been suspended.

It is unclear whether Mr Ryan or the website provider, Michigan-based Liquid Web, removed the site.

Liquid Web declined to comment when asked it had been responsible for the site's removal.

Mr Ryan had had his address and phone number posted on a blog on his and other websites yesterday.

Although he preferred not to disclose his real name, using the pseudonym PiGPEN instead, he said "some kids" managed to get his home and phone details off his server and post them online.
However, the phone number of his western Sydney home, on which media contacted him yesterday, now appears to have been disconnected.

The [website taken out] website, which lets game developers share and rate each other's creations, is still hosting the game, which had made headlines across the world.

Called V-Tech Rampage, the game follows Cho Seung-hui's killing spree at Virginia Tech in April, in which 32 people died before he turned a gun on himself.

Mr Ryan had previously posted demands for "donations" on his site in exchange for the game's removal.

He had said for $US1000 ($1200), he would remove the game from Newgrounds; for $US2000 ($2400) he would remove it from his own website and for $US3000 ($3600) he would apologise for the stunt.

And this person is American living in Australia he's stupid for making the game

The game is still on the Newgrounds site. I'm just reading the reviews. Some people disagree with him and some actually didn't mind the game at all.

This does remind me of the game that was created for Columbine.

Still, asking for "donations"? Sounds like a bribe to me.
