US Senate Race in Mass

MA Attorney General Martha Coakley was the prohibitive favorite to win the seat vacated by the passing of Ted Kennedy, but State Senator Scott Brown has had a recent surge in the polls.

But all that matters is what happens today in the election. The outcome could have a huge affect on the National Health Care bill that President Obama is trying to get passed. Ironically the state of MA already has a similar model of universal health care in place.

It does? then how do they manage to make such fuss about it? Making people vote for Brown to stop the health bill that is simular to the one they already have! Weird

Coakley conceded - -game over. She ran a terrible campaign but that's politics. HCR reform is in more trouble than before unless the go the reconciliation route.

I just want to see the day that a woman can pose for a nude centerfold and be considered to be a serious political candidate some 30 years later like Brown did.

What? She did that!

And quite frankly people have made it very clear how disappointed they are with the HCR, Obama and just the Democratic Party overall that it doesn't surprise me that she lost.

Brown ran a very good campaign. I don't think he's the right choice for that state but we'll see. He only serves until 2012 and if the Democrats can get their act together he may have a fight on his hands.

Having said that - he's from the Bush mold in cutting taxes. Depending on the day he's either pro-life or pro-choice. I don't know if the Commonwealth will have buyer's remorse in six months. He reminds me a lot of Romney who was a one term wonder.

Oh boy - they're already talking about his daughters and if they're involved with anyone. Ugh, why do we need to know that?

If this is the kind of leader Mass wants, there isn't much the rest of us can do about it.

Of course, it's a little disheartening to see a seat go form a man who did everything in his power to make sure everyone had a say at the table to one who, apparently (and I hope I'm wrong), seems to follow the hard right to the letter. But what can we do? The people have spoken.
