You have admire the Republicans' ability to change their mind depending on who it is they're talking about. Clinton had no right to mention sexism, but it's sexist and wrong to ask Palin about her young children. Governor Kean (I may be mispelling that) was a stupid candidate for VP for the Democrats because he had been the mayor of, like, the 100th biggest town in the United States, but Palin will do excellent because she was the mayor of the second largest city in Alaska.

It's rather impressive how they manage to hold two completely different positions in almost the same news cycles.

I don't think some of the Hillary supporters are even looking at political positions anymore. Palin's a woman and that's good enough for them.

Did you see The Daily Show last night? Stewart NAILED that hypocrisy. One of his finest segments.

The Republican party is made of hypocrisy.

How boring was McCain's speech?

A person on CNN said it was boring and the worst speech by a nominee since Carter.

Mccain is not the best speaker we all know that. But I did like the end. Next up is the debates! First one is 9/26. Should be good.

I found it pretty bothersome that both Palin and Guiliani mocked Obama's strong record of community service in Chicago area when he just finished his undergrad. It's just shows how disconnected these hypocritical elitist Republicans are from the concerns of the ordinary man.

This article perfectly captures how I feel about this:

Quote:
Why do Republicans mock "community organizer" role?

9:04 AM Thu, Sep 04, 2008

Michael Landauer

I really don't understand the mocking of Obama for being a community organizer as a young man.

Giuliani last night: "On the other hand, you have a resume from a gifted man with an Ivy League education. He worked as a community organizer. What? He worked -- I said -- I said, OK, OK, maybe this is the first problem on the resume."

Palin last night: I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a "community organizer," except that you have actual responsibilities.

Now, the truth is that, starting at age 23, Obama ran a faith-based charity called the Developing Communities Project.

It was made up of eight Catholic parishes when he got there and had one staff member. He was its director, meaning he was in charge. He made decisions about it, including staffing, budgets, etc. And when he left in 1988 to go to law school, he had grown its budget from $70,000 to $400,000, its staff from 1 to 13 people. More important, he created a job training program for this community and a college prep tutoring program.

As mayor, she built a hockey rink/rec center using eminent domain (because apparently there just isn't enough land in Alaska).

And keep in mind the timeline here: Obama did this as a young man BEFORE going to law school, becoming a successful lawyer and a law professor.

I don't think it's right to attack someone for working in a faith-based charity out of college. I think we all have some embarrassing first-jobs in our past. I would not make fun of Palin for being a beauty queen and sports reporter out of college during these same years. Although, I do think Obama's experience shaped his political future a bit better ...

What's McCain going to stand on? His '95% just like Bush' platform? He's got nothing in terms of policies, so he brings up the POW card or he attacks Obama for being a celebrity.

The Daily Show was just as hilarious tonight trying to get them to point out the hypocrisy. They had one of the reporters trying to get some people at the convention to say the word choice. That Sarah Palin's daughter made the CHOICE to have her baby and none of them would, except for one! It was pretty funny to see all the other ones squirm around trying not to say it.

It can't get more hypocritical than saying Bristol had the right to make that choice, yet if Palin was elected, no other woman would have that choice.

I love Palin trying to use the word choice. When she would take away mine, given the chance.

I would hope that's not true, but I'm afraid that it might well be in at least some cases.

Word. People said the speech was boring until he talked about being a POW. He claims Obama/the democrats play the race/gender card.....but what about him?

Sadly it is, Jerry. Some still feel very "robbed" - I guess - when Obama won over Hillary. Some say if the votes from Florida had been counted, she would've won. Florida was penalized so I think it's time to get over it. Even after ALL these months later and EVEN after Hillary asking supporters to show their support for Obama, the bitter war goes on. I wonder if this is even the Democratic party in action anymore. It's like sexism vs. racism. So sad.

When does McCain ever leave that part out? I think he forgets sometimes that we know his POW history already. I read somewhere that his war buddies that he toured with can't even stand him because he's so pompous. In addition, Cindy McCain stated that she was totally against Palin's stand on the abortion issue. But as far as the speech tonight, I think Palin's was slightly more tolerable.

As far as issues go it really would make no sense at all for Hillary supporters to vote For the Mccain/Palin Ticket. Hillary told them point blank support Obama. But even after that I've talked to some women at work who supported Hillary and are still voting for Mccain now even after she told them to vote Obama.

And what's sad is that I guarantee it won't be for any political reason. Not that you need a reason but there's a reason that you're registered Democrat or Republican. It's like a complete joke these days.

I didn't get the bashing of community organizers by Giuliani and Palin. McCain tried to make up for it tonight. The best part of his speech was the POW stories. The rest was pretty bland. Why do they keep putting him in front of the lime green jello screen?

MSNBC said that Palin was going back to Alaska until next Wednesday. The official reason was that she had to handle official business in Alaska but the talking head seem to think she needs the time to study the issues. Which is scary.
