| Topic of the Week #7: How have you made the best of the economy right now? New week. New topic. Even with all the news coverage and word of a current state of recession, what are you doing to make the best of the whole economic situation and to get through daily life? I used to shop every other day at my favorite stores buying tons of clothes. That has all come to a stop. Now, I try to stick to a shopping list of the grocery items that my husband and I need. We try to buy store brand items too or clip coupons as often as possible. Finally, we stay home to conserve gas and only go out a handful of times if absolutely necessary. How about you? __________________ Phoebe (singing): Happy Hanukkah, Monica. May your Christmas be snowy, Joey. Happy New Year, Chandler and Ross. Spin the dreidel, Rachel! I have fewer responsibilities than most. I don't have student debt. I am not married. I don't own a house or a car. My parents are alive and healthy. I have no children. I'm essentially as free of responsibility as I'll ever be. But I was out of a job for two months last fall and it taught me the value of savings... So, yeah, I think twice before I buy stuff now. __________________ Sunny "The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die." avie by Jessie | |||

| I only go clothes shopping about twice a year maybe. I am moving to Vancouver in a few weeks so I would probably have more light sprees. I rarely buy dvd's I only buy my favorites. I rarely go to bars and I usually only have 1 or 2 drinks. I only buy food I know I will eat. Plus I don't buy video games as much as I used to. __________________ Sex is like pro wrestling you got the grapples, the holds, the finishing move, and it's all fake da #299 | |||

| I'm actually lucky if I even have money for bills. What I do have left usually goes to food and maybe something "extravagant" like a dvd or something if it's something I want. __________________ LJ | News & Politics | Battlestar Galactica | TS2 | PS Watch Battlestar Galactica every Friday at 10pm! I've never been much of anywhere, let alone lived there, but I have heard that Montreal is one of the most affordable cities to live in. Mind you, it doesn't feel like it sometimes. But, especially when I compare rents and public transportation fares... I do seem to have it lucky on that front. __________________ Sunny "The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die." avie by Jessie | |||

| In the past year I manage to get three part-time jobs but I'm still broke. I have college, food, and transportation to worry about. I'm living with my mother just because she is not charging me rent. | |||

| When grocery shopping, me and my family buy generic instead of name brand, and always stick to a list. | |||

| I'm still as frugal as ever. The only thing that has changed is that more people are noticing my ways and trying to do the same. Sasha ![]() __________________ Sasha | |||

Also -- I avoid driving as much as possible. My boyfriend and I also only allow ourselves to eat out once a week. Hard to keep, but it makes it so much cheaper. __________________ | |||
