A few years ago all posters with under 101 posts were able to use a 'Standard Avatar' from a selection pre-uploaded to the site. When the size of avatars changed from 45 x 45 to 100 x 100, a decision was made to eliminate the default avatars. However, we would like to bring them back and we would like all posters to have a chance to submit avatars for consideration. Posters will still need 101 posts to upload a custom avatar of their choice.

We're going to add 5 avatars per board. All Moderators will pick 10 and the Graphics Team will then select the final 5 from those 10.

To make things easier, we will be doing this in categories starting with TV Shows: Present.

TV Shows: Present Feb 1st - Feb 15th
Female Celebrities Feb 15th - Mar 1st
Male Celebrities Mar 1st - Mar 15th
Music Artists Mar 15th - Mar 29th
Sci-fi/Fantasy and Fan Extras Mar 29th - Apr 12th
TV Shows: Past Apr 12th - Apr 26th
General Discussion May 3rd - May 17th (sorry about the slight delay)

New boards will get their 5 avatars as soon they have been made permanent.

Anyone can submit an Avatar and if you would like to submit any avatars for this board, please post them here on this thread. Make sure that they follow all of the rules outlined below.

Rules for avatars:
1) Please don't include any text on the avatars.
2) No animated avatars.
3) Keep in mind that the avatars should be a general representation of the board.
4) You may submit up to 5 avatars (no more) per person per board.
5) Apart from rules 1 & 2, whatever style, colors, brushes, textures you use is up to you!
6) All avatars must be 100px x 100px

Please only submit avatars that you have made yourself. If you need help/suggestions please check out the thread here on the Fan Art board. You can see the icons we have already uploaded in the Edit Avatar page of your User CP.

Of course, I don't know how to make any, but I would enjoy seeing them.

Isnt yours a very typical political avatar? I can imagine stuff like that And then maybe pics of important political buildings, of laws and money (items with § and $ signs on them?) and such

I'll come up with some ideas. I may make more than the alloted 5 per person and post somewhere on here and have you all decided what 5 you think are the best representative that I submit. If that makes sense.

Callace - I know mine is about as news-ish as it gets. But I didn't make it. And there's a whole bunch of arts stuff that we don't usually get to participate in at the N&P board because we're such a random little board with no recognizable symbol like, say, the James Marsters board might have.

So I was a bit confused. But it's cleared up now.

I hope Jessie sees this...

Yeah, I guess my board is a bit more obvious than this when it comes to theme of arts (although there wasnt more than one submission done back when we had the standard avatars thread posted either) But that it is a challenge to come up with something, makes it all the more awesome if we actually get N&P avatars

So thanks Karen, for trying to come up with some. That would be so great And I like the suggestion. Please make as many as you can!

Well, no. An obvious thematic target does not guarantee higher participation. We had a similar "lack" of participation at the Third Watch board, but we do have Karen over there. And she's an ace. So we did alright.

I just... I wouldn't even know how to start making N&P avies.

Well, I dont even know how to make arts, generally, so I couldnt do it either And it is obviously harder to come up with icons for a board of this kind. But I guess pictures of famous politicians would be the easiest to come up with. Although I nearly would have liked more to get icons with buildings and items important to politics.

I wonder what they'll come up with at Books, Comics, or Games. I'm guessing these boards will be in sort of the same situation as us here

Anyhow, so when the mods eventually submit to the Graphics Team, and it's asked on the form if any of the submittees submitted more than 5, for the record, I DID NOT submit more than 5 ... I'm just letting you all see various ones I've made to get ideas of what types to submit
