Six Killed in Hunting Shooting in WI

Quote:
HAYWARD, Wisconsin (AP) -- A man suspected in the killings of six hunters told investigators he began firing after he was shot at first and some of the victims called him racially derogatory names, according to documents filed Tuesday.

A judge set bail at $2.5 million for Chai Vang, 36, of St. Paul, Minnestora, who is suspected in the killings Sunday of six deer hunters and the wounding of two others.

This freaked me out so badly. I had four uncles, a brother, cousins, and countless family friends out hunting that day. I can't even imagine.

Wow. That sounds like a weird freak (well, I can't call it an accident).

It sounds like a horrible misunderstanding. I wonder what really happened.

I hope the injured two make it through all right.

That's some crazy stuff. Sucks that people went out to hunt and ended up getting killed by another hunter.

What's disturbing is that it doesn't seem like an accident either. Since I live in WI this is being talked about a lot and it seems they asked him to get out of the deer stand since it was private property, and he did, then started shooting at them, and they only had one gun between all of them. The bodies were spread out over like 100 yds as they tried to run away and then the suspect escaped through the woods.

It's just really, really disturbing. I mean you hear about accidents, but this guy was pissed about having to get off private property he was trespassing on?

OK, I didn't know the whole story.

I also found it disturbing that the AP can't spell Minnesota.

That's terrible! On the news they said something about "...part of the Hmong population, who don't see to understand the American concept of private property." I was shocked when they said that; I thought that was pretty rude and inappropriate to say on the news. I can't remember what station it was.

Growing up in Minnesota I definitely believe they made racial slurs. I'm not saying all people from MN are like that, but trust me MN is so non-diverse. I heard quite a few nasty things said about minorities growing up there (especially the comments they make about Indians...that always boils my blood.) But still he should NOT have shot at them, jeez what was wrong with him? Sounds like he has a history though when he waved a gun and threatened to kill his wife!

What is Hmong? Is that Mongolian? We leanred about it in elementary school but I forgot. I know the article said Laos, but isn't someone from Laos called Laotian?
