I guess that they are finally getting tired of the Chechnyan rebels. Because I really feel this is more towards them than it is against any other terrorist group.

It's just sad that it takes such tragedies to make leaders realize they can't just sit around waiting for something to happen.

If it's the last resort, why is it suddenly everyone's first choice?

Since they are probably talking about Chechnya, at least it's a place they know poses a threat to them.

I wouldn't consider Russia a superpower. The Soviet Union, yes, but that hasn't existed for over 10 years.

terrorsists are most of the time not diplomatic, except a small few.
You Can always take a hit on their money, but they will still find other options to get money to feed terror... You don't want to give in to the terrorsists demands, because's that'll just teach them they can do terrorsists acts and get away with it. so what else can u, their's not to many other options on the table, other then military option....

Most countries try to keep things non-combative and rely on treaties and allies to help disfuse situations. But, when countries are attacked by terrorists and there is no reasoning with them then military action is the last resort. The US didn't rush to war they try to make things work at the UN but couldn't. Russia now sees that you cannot reason with these terrorists. It is just awful about those poor children at the school. My thoughts & prayers go out to them. Around this time of year, it really makes you relate things back to 9/11.

The thing is, while America might have gone to the UN, there was no comprimise. As Bush himself said, "You're either with us or against us". There was no middle ground. The UN wanted the inspectors to have more time, as there was no actual evidence of WMD. Well, its been over a year, and we're still waiting.

By saying that it meant that there was not any middle ground for terrorists.

If the US would have waited for the UN - Saddam would still be in power today and the inspectors still would not be getting any cooperation.

That may be true, but it could also mean exactly what it sounds like; if you are not with the US you are our enemy.

Lauren what did you mean by the comment "What have they done?"

Uh, no. He was talking to the countries then. Besides, that just dosen't make sense. Why would terrorists be with America?

The UN wanted to deal with the international community, the US didn't. If Bush was seriously going after countries with WMD, why not North Korea? If he's going after countries with ties to terrosism, why not Sauia Arabia? America could beat Iraq, so that's why they went there.

I really hope they dont decide to do that.

It wont help the problem and it will just add to it.
