Rue McClanahan dies at 76

Quote:
Golden Girl Rue McClanahan has died at the age of 76.

"She passed away at 1 a.m. this morning," her manager, Barbara Lawrence, tells PEOPLE. "She had a massive stroke."

McClanahan, who played man-happy Blanche Devereaux on the still-popular '80s sitcom Golden Girls, had suffered a minor stroke earlier this year while recovering from bypass surgery. Lawrence adds that at the time of her death Thursday, McClanahan “had her family with her. She went in peace."

So sad. My thoughts are with her family!

Betty White is the last one standing!

Oh, this news made my heart sad. I watch The Golden Girls every night before I go to bed. RIP, lovely lady.

Well, I was too French to know that there was such a show as The Golden Girls (probably too young, too) when it was airing, but any grand dame of the arts passing away is a sad day.

My thoughts are with her loved ones, particularly Betty White, who was having such a great year otherwise.

The Golden Girl Show always made me laugh when I was going through nervousness. When I was sad, all I would do is turn on the Golden Girls and they all made me laugh so hard.

With Rue gone now, that means Betty White is the only surviving Golden Girl (Estelle Getty and Bea Arthur have passed over the course of two years). And at 88, she's still going strong!

That's so sad I love the Golden Girls. They were such a great group of women. It's sad to see them leaving.
