I haven't done anything since I last stuffed envelopes but going to try and help out this week with phone calls and mailings. Not sure though because it is hectic right now!

It was so weird last night...my roomie and his girlfriend and myself were all drunk and then we starting arguing about Bush vs. Kerry. It's kind of strange debating when you're drunk...lol.

Well a field rep for the college republican national committee came to my school the other day and met with the Secretary of our org on campus and myself. Apparently Laura Bush is coming to the city I live in tomorrow and is giving this invitation only speech. They need volunteers and we volunteered but they had to run a background check and I don't know if it will go through in time. Kerry is coming on Wed and we're going to go protest that if we can find out where it is.

Other than that I've made some phone calls.

Oh that is awesome! I hope your check gets through in time and you are able to go. I can't wait to hear about it!

I know, I'm so excited It turned out that they had enough volunteers but he still put us on the list to go and hear her speak.

I was so excited when he came. He has a ton of great ideas to help us out, get more members, get more involved and stuff. Since we only started last year and Claire (the Chairman) and I founded it and have never really done anything like this before we still need to get some steam to get up and running. Our campus is pretty apathetic when it comes to anything but sleeping and slacking off in general so we've had trouble getting motivated people. We're hoping he'll help us.

Claire is also developing a big crush on him

All right, so I'm back from the speech

She is amazing. She's so beautiful, elegant, and classy. She has a really warm sense about her and this charisma that is really subtle and just sneaks in and grabs you. I got to shake her hand (!!!!!!) I was so excited, my friend actually got to talk with her which was reallly, really amazing. We also talked to someone who works in her office and got a couple contacts which was great.

She talked about women a lot, women business owners, how over 40% of the people registered to vote now in Iraq are women, and how Afghan women are allowed out without male escorts and little girls are going to school there now. Also about education, programs for work study with community and tech colleges and increases in the Pell Grant program.

It was so awesome.

There were protestors, but only like 4 of them. They were yelling at my friends' mom and sister as they got out of their car. The mom and sister were just like....whatever.

Oh and there was this really cute Secret Service guy, Really, really cute. Actually a lot of them were pretty good looking, younger than I expected them to look.

I know what you mean - at first when I was watching the RNC I was like what is that? Then I started laughing when I saw the flip flops! I think I am going to get a pair and wearing it to my very anti-republican political science class. I am one of only handful of Republicans in that class - about a 6 to 60 ratio. And it ain't pretty.

Has anyone seen the bumper sticker "I'm Still Standing with President Bush"? I really love that one and have seen it on a handful of cars around here but I have never been able to find out where they have gotten them. I have seen the bumper stickers "I stand with President Bush" from georgewbush.com. If I can find one of those I want to get it. I currently have a Bush/Cheney sticker & a freedom isn't free magnet.

Ok, sorry if this is not going to be very coherent. I left my house at 7:20 this morning, it is not 11:08pm and I am still at school working on stuff.

Yes. I think the field rep guy is cute too.

We had our meeting tonight and 20 people came. Considering that there are not that many students here, much less active ones, and that we have like...3 people come last year (seriously) this was amazing. I almost started to cry. John Kerry will be here tomorrow and we are going to go protest, we made a bunch of signs and these 8ft tall Flip Flop costumes.

Oh, and all of our posters advertising the meeting were taken down in 20 minutes. Seriously. And view what people did to our chalking, here

Well, I am freakishly tired, have to go home, read, get up at 6:30 and go to Statistics and see if I can get out of my lab tomorrow.

Congrats on the good turnout! That sucks about the chalking though...some people are lame.

In our Union someone wrote "12,000 Iraqui's dead - men, women, children"

I am so tempted to go buy some chalk and underneath it write:
"X Iraqui's dead under Saddam - men, women, children"

Of course X would be the number...which I need to get to make sure I am being correct.

Depends on what side you are on?

Katis ~ Hang in there hun! You are making a difference and working your butt off! Don't let those naysayers get you down! I hope you get a chance to catch up on your sleep soon! Let us know how the protesting goes!

MH67511 - I think you should do that, just put that point out there.

*sigh* I am just frustrated lately as well with things around here. But tomorrow is another day.

Have to go back up to Georgetown tomorrow morning but the way it has been raining I don't know if I am going too. Maybe a video phone conference can be arranged - another thing to rearranged. I am not meaning to complain but ya'll know how things are sometimes.

I didn't make it to the protest I showed up right as everyone was leaving because he started talking at 1, and I didn't get out of class until 12. I wanted to skip but I'd already missed it for the Laura Bush thing. Apparently it went really well though. Some priest was yelling and cursing at them, and some guy almost attacked my friend with a cane, a lot of people almost got violent which I think is ironic since so many of the liberals that go there and support Kerry preach about non-violence and peace and all that.

Wow! That sucks that you didn't get to go and protest. That violence is crazy - seems freedom of speech only works for one side, huh? I would weigh your positive against the negative - you got to see Laura & shake her hand!

I am not sure if anyone will be rolling through here anytime soon. I will have to check.

Looks like some of the people on the other side don't really want me, so I guess you guys are stuck with me.
