Rally for Sanity

Anyone go today? I did! The crowd was HUGE, and everyone was so NICE. Definitely an incredibly iconic moment for me. I loved Jon Stewart's ending speech.

Well, lol, all I can say is crowds. We went through the metro, but had to miss two trains because both were completely jam packed. We finally got to the mall, but lol, couldn't see much because it was SO crowded. A little hard to hear as well I think the highlight was the signs. There were some really funny ones---"I value intellectual debate (guess that means I'm not American" "think outside the Fox") But everyone was very nice, calm and sane lol. We talked to people who had come from ALL over the US (Maine, California, South Carolina, etc.) Also definitely diverse, contrary to some news reports. It was nice to see everyone support each other---the crowd at one point cheered on a guy who was climbing a tree to see everything.

This gives you a good taste of the signs there

The 100 Best Signs At The Rally To Restore Sanity And/Or Fear: Pics, Videos, Links, News

slowly fading, take a look at my above post. Also check this out, it's highlights from the rally: YouTube - Stewart's "Rally for Sanity" Highlights

Overall, I definitely felt I was part of something historic. Something I won't forget for awhile

I'm sorry to hear that I tried the link again, and it worked. Try this link?: YouTube - Jon Stewart Opens The Rally To Restore Sanity If that works for you, you can check the C-SPAN page for more. The more sanity we spread, the better

Thanks!

Grrr, isn't the name a bit ablist?...

I haven't been there, obviously, only watched a little on TV, but I heard an enterpratuer (wrong spelling, I know) say that John Stewart didn't make use of his position to say something overtly political, instead he intended to be 'crowd pleasing' to all sides. I don't know if that's true, but it was one's critique on this event, so I thought it had been an interesting point to make.
