Oh, I'm just moving six streets over (or so).

It's mostly in order, but my brother is moving tomorrow and so his move has taken priority over mine (mostly because I don't want the movers to take my stuff away, so I haven't been packing at all).

And his move isn't going so well (he is in the process of buying a condo, well having it built really, and it's just not going too well), so there's been a lot of tension, which I have never been able to handle well.

Point being, I am really scatterbrained right about now. And it doesn't help that summer seems to have finally arrived in Montreal, which means humidity, which means power outages.

I am very sorry that I was gone without news for so long.

The move went very well. Well, it's still happening, since it involved having the apartment painted (which took four days) and buying new furniture from IKEA (which means assembly).

Also, my Internet connection lapsed for a bit while we were working out the wireless thing. I had someone leeching off... I think.

Anyway, I am so proud of the lot of you for this outstanding count.

I love IKEA! There's a furniture set they have there that I've been dying to get but certain things like the AC dying in our place has set those plans back a bit.

Well, my grand-uncle died a little over a year ago. He lived most of his life with his sister, my grand-mother. And my grand-father died at a ridiculously young age (because they either didn't know how to diagnose leukemia back then or, more likely, hadn't yet worked out a cure).

Anyway, long story short, my mum (and her siblings) came into a bit of money. And, crazy woman that she is, she has this thing about using money on people while she's still alive.

Which is why I am student-debt free and which is how I got my IKEA furniture. Fortunately, my stuff didn't ring up the largest total and I was able to chip in as well. So the guilt is not quite overwhelming.

But, yet, I got a bedroom set (minus the bed), a TV table-thingy, a toy chest that I use to house my computer stuff and my paperwork and blinds for three of my five windows (I kept my bedroom drapes and my front-door window is in weird glass you can't really see through anyway). Oh, and two lamps. All for $1,200 Cdn.

The project for next summer is to go back for the kitchen table and two chairs. After that, I would very much enjoy finding a comfortable, cushioned something or other to lounge on and read.

And then I'll be pretty much set for life, really.

Nope. I got the place to myself.

I have to admit that it's nice being mostly done with the various furniture hand-me-downs I had since my university days.

Of course, my washer, dryer, oven, fridge, dishwasher and freezer are all inherited, but I'm not about to complain.

Well, not yet. Probably not.

His condo's being built and the contractor is late on delivering, so I can't imagine much about that has changed in the week since I've seen or talked to Jay (my brother).

Besides that, we've both been super busy with setting up our new places. His is, hopefully, very temporary, but he's still got to live there. Mine is, of course, a bit more permanent, so the setting up of it has been a wee bit involved. Plus, you know, we both work full time. And he's got all his extracurricular activies (name a sport and he plays it, and the Montreal Jazz Festival is on and he's way better at attending than I am, etc.)

So we haven't gotten in touch as yet.
