Passenger tries to ignite his shoes aboard a Denver flight

Sorry, I'm typing this as I'm hearing it on t.v.

Apparently, a passenger aboard a Denver flight on its way to Washington, D.C. was arrested for trying to set his shoes on fire. There were Air Marshals on the flight who restrained the guy from doing this.

This is the second time this has happened. The last incident was in December on a Denver flight as well. As more information comes in I will post it. I swear there are some really crazy people out there.

I've heard that on the news this morning. But from what I heard he didnt actually try that. He just was really desperate for a smoke, and bent down to take it in hope that it might take a second more before someone realized. (not very likely that he could ever keep such a thing secret, but)

He had, from what I heard no shoe bomb, or anything else that could have made his shoes dangerous.

Oh so weird. I don't get what good he thought setting his shoes on fire would do, unless he had some kind of bomb in them?

I could have sworn the Denver flight guy from Christmas was trying to set his underoos on fire (presumably igniting some sort of explosive in there... not sure where he was going with that, though)...

Either way, I think you guys are safe if your biggest threats are inept morons.

good one Sunny, and you are right. Earlier there was a guy arrested for planning a bomb in his underwear or something like that

Way too funny.

And to risk getting pummeled by Air Marshals for a smoke is truly a stupid thing to do.

Oh sheesh, yes it is.

Makes me wonder if there are Air Marshals on the flights I've been on and I just didn't know it.

I know suicide bombers can't be the sharpest tool in the box, seeing as their great plan for martyrdom won't have them reap any of the benefits of their so-called glorious actions, but it really is starting to look like they're scraping the bottom of the barrel.

LOL. It is sad people feel that this is the only way to make themselves heard.

Well, you really have to figure in the fact that these people probably don't have much to live for, otherwise ending it all wouldn't ever feel like the right option, especially not in a religious or political context.

In any religion, life is a gift from God, so throwing that away, and throwing it away while attempting to murder as many innocents as one can, is hardly going to win you brownie points in any concept you have of the afterlife.

And in politics, it's all about having one's opinion heard or having control of a territory or situation... so, again, taking yourself out of the equation isn't exactly a winning strategy.

I think a lot more people see it my way than any of us realize. It's just that extremists are far more photogenic, so to speak.
