He was freakin' scary in that one! __________________ Fingerprints. DNA. Florecent Lights. Luminol. Vegas. Dead Bodies. Due process. Miami. $35K O.B.O. Alligators. Casinos. From the Grave. NY. Jury. | I'm a little disappointed. Jim Carrey absolutely should have been nominated for ESOTSM. I know it was a close call and there were lots of great performances, but I just think he finally deserves at LEAST a nomination. He's done the greatest performances of his career in the last few years and gets snubbed every time. I think people still think of him as Ace Ventura and don't acknowledge his credibility as a serious actor. Also, I'm miffed that The Passion wasn't nominated for Best Picture. I wasn't expecting the Academy to go for such a religiously controversial film, but come on, whether you believe in the story or not, it was amazing. The directing, the acting, everything that went into it. It was the most powerful movie I've seen in years and it would have been nice to see it get some recognition. | |||

| I agree Amber, with the Jim Carrey thing and the Passion. Jim was so incredible in that movie...and the Passion was amazing, but to politically incorrect to make it mainstream... __________________ If the meaning of your marriage can be cheapened by the marriage of two men, how much could it have been worth to begin with? | |||

| I agree Amanda, I guess I was just hoping that, since it had already been rejected as just a religious storytelling at the time of its release, that it would be at least acknowledged for its excellent filmmaking by Oscar time. I mean, I don't take personal stock in a lot of morals or values that are expressed in movies, but if it's still a superb movie despite my ability to personally relate, I would want it to win. I hardly agree with the sentiments expressed in The Godfather but that deserved all the critical acclaim it could get ![]() | |||

| I am not surprised at all that The Passion was not notminated. It has been shunned since it opened and that is really upsetting. I have no doubt that had it been nominated it would have won that category as well. Also disappointing for Jim Carey. Good luck to all the people that have been nominated for awards. | |||

| I miffed that Shaun of the Dead didn't get any nods at all. Best and funniest and scariest and heart-wrenching film of last year. ![]() | |||

| I'm rooting for Martin Scorsese just because he's Martin Scorsese. I haven't seen "The Aviator" and I don't know if the movie is any good. But it's about time the Academy awards the greatest living american director. __________________ I wish I had a river. | |||

| Definitely. Scorcese deserves it, even if not necessarily for this film ( I didn't see it ) but he's been shafted year after year. I agree, he is one of the best director's in cinema. Yes, Dev, it was the most Oscar-worthy film of the highest caliber this year. It was robbed! ![]() | |||
