Ah, of course. Despite the things you mentioned, you seem like a roundabout person to me.

It looks like you've got your hands full with all these things that are due. I hope you can finish them in time. What is the name of the book that you will be discussing at this meeting?

I have my hands full alright. Nothing too dramatic, obviously.

The book we're reading is a church publication. We go over a chapter every month. My month is on reincarnation, which is a basic principle of our church. So it's not too, too difficult. But it is my first time taking charge, so to speak.

Eclipse (3rd book in Twilight series).

I have almost 40 books in my "To Read" pile that is steadily growing on my bedroom floor.

Oooh, that's my favourite of the four.

My own pile of things to read is just silly at this point. I buy books and then they sit there. It's ridiculous. And what am I reading right now? Something new I haven't read before? Nope. I'm on Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix. Bleh. I will never change.

Oh, mine too!!! Did you see Twilight in theatres? It was so good. I already told hubby that he better be ready to sit through New Moon with me when it comes out on November 20th.

Oh that's cool. Do you feel prepared for it yet?

I say return them all, get your money back and go to the library where you can get the same book for free.

Nik, you've picked an awesome book to read. What do you think about it so far?

I LOVE Eclipse. It's my favorite out of the three that I've read so far. I haven't read Breaking Dawn yet since I'm going in order. Although I know what happens in the final book because I am a spoiler whore...

I am going to see New Moon with my friend Kim on the day it is released. Then I leave for Hawaii on the 24th! Eeeeeee!

Hope you have a good weekend, ladies.

Well, I'll tell you my thoughts on BD after you read it.

So cool! I'm too scared to fly so that's one place I know that I'll probably never visit.

I LOVE flying. I don't get worried at all. Usually, I am reading a book, listening to music, or sleep while on the plane.

You can tell me your thoughts on BD now. Did you like it?

Oh, I wish I was as strong as you. It's just that I had a terrible plane experience when I was 9 and haven't recovered since. I know I'm missing out on alot, though.

The ending was such a major letdown. Just very strung-out, in my opinion.

I saw the first one in the theatres, yes. And, I have to say, I kinda hated it... I subsequently bought it (because my brain works like that) and now I find that I can enjoy what's there without getting too bogged down by the parts that make my skin crawl, but I'm just really, really hoping the new director does a better job of representing the spirit of the thing.

Because I understand that a movie adaptation is never as good as the book (unless it's Mansfield Park; in which case, it is frankly much, much better). But this was just ridiculous. The book is about a thoughtful girl falling in love with a guy who spends WAY too much time overthinking EVERYTHING. And in the movie, it's like the earth will explode if they don't say whatever it is they have to say (which is always either completely meaningless stuff or stuff that was way more developed in the books) in the next two seconds. It's not just the book on speed, it's the book on speed, meth and cocaine all at once.

And the one part, the one part where what they have to say really matters and it's super important that they actually talk (i.e. the meadow scene), they do a freaking musical montage.

Which leads me to my next annoyance: too many musical montages. I get that the place they filmed was really pretty and that the trees were really tall, but I could have done with a little less of that and a little more of Edward and Bella actually getting to know each other. They skipped over every significant conversation those two have (beyond the whole "say it. out loud" weirdness)!

Bleh. But, don't mind me. I now try to focus on the bits where they actually show Edward's sense of humour (you have to squint a bit, but it is there) and the fact that they managed to make Billy and Charlie likeable. And I wasn't a fan of either of those in the books.

Not even remotely.

It'll be alright in the end. It's not like I'm imparting knowledge or having to say anything all that substantive. I just have to get people talking about their thoughts, feelings and experiences.

It's intimidating because I've never done it before. But I keep reminding myself that this isn't about having answers, because we all have to find our own answers.

That's very wise advice. But most of them have been here for years already. All of them have my name written in two separate pages. And none of them have a receipt still hanging around.

This is what I do. This is what I've done ever since I've been able to afford it. Every year or so, I do a purge. But those books I donate. So, in the end, it's for a good cause.

But, yeah, there's no returning them.

And libraries are not my thing. Aside from the faux silence always disturbed by loud talking followed by even louder sushing, I hate how they censor their content and how there's a penalty to be paid if you don't feel like reading the book right then.

Oh, and how books that have been in smoking houses still reek of it when you open them.

It was alright. I did a lot of knitting.

I slept twelve hours (very needed) during the night between Friday and Saturday. And then I celebrated by sleeping a combined seven hours over the next two nights. Needless to say, I am pooped.

Sleeping is my favorite thing to do in the entire world. I wish I could do more of it.

I have always liked the books better than the movies based on the books. Very rarely, if ever, is it the other way around. I liked the movie for Twilight but I LOVED the book so much better. I am excited about the movie for New Moon, though. I hope it changes my mind about the book because it wasn't my favorite out of the series at all. It dragged for me.

New Moon was a pain. I didn't appreciate the boys (any of them) acting like Bella couldn't possibly make up her own mind about her own life.

At least, by the end of it, one of them had learned his lesson. All the other ones... took forever getting there.
