News & Politics Rules - *** Please read and respond ***

General FF Rules

Expanded Rule for News and Politics from the Management Team...

Quote:
In the general rules, we have one rule that says the following:

3.) Be respectful. Not everyone is going to agree with you at all times. It’s perfectly fine to disagree with someone as long as it is done respectfully, but do not attack other posters.

For this board, we’re going to expand on this rule, and say the following:

Be respectful. Not everyone is going to agree with you at all times. It’s perfectly fine to disagree with someone as long as it is done respectfully, but do not attack other posters. Additionally, broad sweeping generalizations that condemn any race, religion, political party affiliation, or any other country will not be tolerated. Anyone who makes such statements will be temporarily banned from posting on the News & Politics board for three days. If their behavior continues, they will be permanently banned from posting on the News & Politics board, and possibly Fan Forum itself.

Spirited debate is something we like to see here, but many of the statements that people have made here go way beyond “debating,” and they don’t engender the type of positive atmosphere that we want here at Fan Forum. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me or anyone else in the Management Team.
This next part I'm throwing in on my own. It's more of a request than anything, but I feel that it might make things a little easier for everyone that posts on this board.

If anyone has problem with a particular poster, feel free to PM a mod or someone on the management team. If it's personal issue, and you'd like to discuss it with the poster yourself, use the PM system so that the thread discussion can continue.

Thanks.

The additional text was surely written because of me, among others. So yes, read and understood. :-)

You know these "shock" stories are starting to become really annoying. I understand that this is the NEWS board, but it's getting to the point where we need a "SHOCKING NEWS" board.

I think that if someone wants to post a story, there needs to be something to DISCUSS. These stories are posted on every news website on the planet, I don't think they all need to be reposted here so everyone can say "OMG that's so horrible."

At least with some of these stories you can get a debate/discussion going, but so many just take up space.

Just my thoughts.

I pretty much agree with MH.

I 100% agree with MH. In fact, that's why I came to this thread in the first place. IMO it's really unnecessary to have 15 million threads that each feature a different story about someone shooting someone else, or a teacher having an inappropriate relationship with a student, or 3-year-olds doing crazy things, or people playing pranks. I think having one thread where people could post stories of this nature would be a big help.

We want everyone to feel that they can post or discuss topics that interest them, so I don't have much of a problem with those stories being posted. However, I completely understand what you're saying about 'real' discussion...and I happen to agree with you.

I'll talk to Lexis and In Fair Verona and see how they feel about a "Shocking News" thread like you and alli balli are suggesting.
