Truly shocking. My position on this stuff is the same as it was when we discussed this months ago - this kind of horrific violence cannot be excused.

This is truly horrible. And I don't mean to diminish that in the least bit when I say that this is the first time I've ever heard of "family honour" being visited upon the man and not the woman. We've all heard, of course, of wife burning and stoning, but this is the first time I've ever heard of it being visited upon a man. Clearly, I have been misinformed.

I've heard of it plenty times. A classic example is of an Afghanistani guy who was killed in England the past year for getting involved with a Pakistani woman whose father felt he was an unfitting match.

So now that's two cases I've heard of.

I never meant to imply they didn't exist. I just never heard of them myself. It's on me. I'd say I'm glad to get the education, but then that feels like I'm saying I'm glad it's happening, and that feels wrong.

Honestly, this doesn't surprise me at all. I've heard about this or similar cases for years. I do not agree with it at all, but I can somewhat understand the thinking behind it.

You'd think we'd be used to hearing about these kinda things by now. But still...it hits you right in the gut.

There's plenty honor killing in Turkey. And I've heard about honor suicides there too -where somebody is given a knife or noose and put in a room alone and told to kill themselves.
