Mother of missing boy commits suicide after appearing on Nancy Grace

Quote:
Two weeks after telling police that her son had been snatched from his crib, Melinda Duckett found herself reeling in an interview with TV's famously prosecutorial Nancy Grace. Before it was over, Grace was pounding her desk and loudly demanding to know: "Where were you? Why aren't you telling us where you were that day?"

A day after the taping, Duckett, 21, shot herself to death, deepening the mystery of what happened to the boy.
Quote:
Duckett's family members disputed any suggestion that she hurt her son. They said that the strain of her son's disappearance pushed her to the brink, and the media sent her over the edge.

"Nancy Grace and the others, they just bashed her to the end," Duckett's grandfather Bill Eubank said Tuesday. "She wasn't one anyone ever would have thought of to do something like this. She and that baby just loved each other, couldn't get away from each other. She wouldn't hurt a bug."

To make matters worse even after her death Nancy has criticized her on her show. She's got to be one of the worst people in news today. Not too long ago Elizabeth Smart appeared on her show to discuss a bill about kidnapped children and even though Elizabeth told Nancy she didn't want to discuss what had happened to her in her past Nancy kept going and going at her about. And then seemingly tried to make her feel bad by saying something along the lines of "Oh i'm sorry I just thought you might want to try to help some of the other victims out there. But I understand if you don't want to talk about it". I can understand why she has enough ratings to stay on TV.

I think it's devastating how jaded our society has become, and how we're so eager to put the blame on somebody, anybody, that a person could be driven to do this. Look at what the media put JonBenet's family through. I've never seen Nancy Grace's TV show before, and judging by what you've mentioned I'm quite thankful for that.

Saw this article from another site. At first, I thought the mother killed herself because maybe she might have had something to do with her son's disappearance.

Then I read the part about Nancy Grace and how she bashed the mother from when she was on and after her death. I haven't really watched Nancy Grace but it's ironic on how she manages to stay on the air.

It's understandable on how the media could have pushed the mother to commit suicide. Unfortunately, it only, as the article says, deepens the mystery on what happened to her son.

I've been following this case from the beginning. Talk about heart-wrenching. I was very shocked to learn of the mother's death. I've watched Nancy Grace's show many times. She is very outspken, not afraid to say what she thinks, and often very much in-your-face, which I'm not saying is a bad thing! But obviously it greatly affected this mother who just wanted to get her son's picture out into the media so she could find him. My heart goes out to her family, who is now dealing with two tragedies.

When I heard about this, I was shocked. I was saying to myself "wasn't the mother just on tv talking about her son's disappearance". The mother seemed calm on Nancy Grace's show. Nancy Grace is mean sometimes to people and it causes bad results. I just wonder deep down inside if Nancy feels bad at all for being so rude and mean to the mother since she killed herself days after being on the show.

Here's a video clip that I could find that talks about the whole Nancy Grace and the kidnapping thing:

YouTube: Nancy Grace

And um...being OT for the moment, I saw this hillarious video clip of Nancy Grace that's actually making fun of her.

Seeing the video makes it worse and you can see just how she went after the woman. As the people in the interview were saying, what gives her the right to attack someone like that especially given what happened? And then she actually thinks she thinks her show doesn't have some blame in it because the show hadn't aired yet? What does that even have anything to do with? She'd already done the interview and been basically accused of doing something to her son by Nancy. The damage was already done it didn't need to air.

I hope they figure out this case (and hopefully the kid is ok) just for Nancy to be proven wrong again. Ofcourse she won't actually admit she was wrong as she once basically accused the runaway brides husband (saying that she KNOWS that it wasn't cold feed) of having something to do with her disappearance and never apologized to him about it.

I can understand where you're coming from. To tell the truth, I haven't seen the segment and there may be some people that didn't so I did some searching in YouTube. And you're right, it makes things worse when you have Nancy Grace slamming on anyone.

Yes, I hope they find this kid alive and fine. It'll be interesting to see how Nancy will be then.

Luckily, the video clip is not the actual video clip of her segment (as far as watching it goes) but they just talk about it.

It'll be even more interesting because she recently said this about the woman

Quote:
"If anything, I would suggest that guilt made her commit suicide," Grace told ABC News' Chris Cuomo.

What the hell is wrong with her? The woman commits suicide after appearing on her show, then she turns around and basically just keeps going after the woman even though she has no proof of anything. If CNN had any sense of class they'd give Nancy her walking papers now and tell her to go somewhere else.

I've been part of Nancy Grace's audience for some years now... I watch her because she has interesting guests and people go all out because she does have a strong opinion and the debates are usually very intense.

That said, she's biased to the core and it isn't possible for her to be a positive force, she's destructive and clearly, sometimes, out of her league.

Tucker Carson makes fun of her every day but she went too far this time. Somebody has to do something about her incredibly ridiculous "everyones guilty" mantra, because even if that's the case, it's not her place to decide without proper evidence.

My God, suicide.... That poor woman.

***

Until now, I've NEVER seen her so terrible as during the Michael Peterson trial. He was convicted but she would not stop, his lawyer couldn't believe what was coming out of Nancy Grace's mouth, and I thought there she had crossed the line then.

Well, this is a new low. This is tragic.

So, so sad. Does anyone think that maybe the mother killed herself because she did something to her son or really over what Nancy Grace said to her?

I wonder also and I hope we find out what really happened after this.

But I must say, Nancy Grace is not the judge of the world and she can't keep on verbally assaulting people because there's a presumption of innocence that was created for a reason and she should respect it as a citizen and as a lawyer.

It's hard to say as it could be either way. She might've done it because she had something to do with it. Or she might've done it because she just lost her son and now people were accusing her of having something to do with it. And those combined together just pushed her over the edge. If her kid was kidnapped I can imagine that she'd be really fragile and feel guilty about it anyway because the kid was taken almost under her nose.
