The most embarrassing book an author has ever written

Seriously, what alternate universe did this book fall out of?

^ Is this for real? Maybe it was written by someone in that 27th percentile who thought Bush was a great president.

Bush certainly didn't "fix" anything, but he receives far more blame than he should.

If banks had never created these ridiculous credit default swaps we wouldn't be in half the mess. Along the same things, if we had done away with these ridiculous mortgage down payment assistance programs and NOT pressured banks to give home loans to non credit-worthy borrowers for the sake of "increasing home ownership" things would be much better.

That being said, Bush didn't do anything to fix these problems. Then again neither did Congress, except for the down payment assistance loopholes which were recently closed.

I do thank him for his tax cuts. I only benefitted from the 10% bracket that was created in 2001, but I added it up and this personally saved me $1041 in federal income taxes since it was created.

Well, that's sort of what happens when there's no oversight in the so-called free markets.

problem is, by lowering the taxes he further increased the debt, which mean your kids propably have to pay for this tax cuts threefold

I think that there are certain things that Bush could be credited with, but "fixing" the economy is far from being one of those things.

There's plenty of blame to go around in regards to the housing problem. The housing crisis has hit countries in Europe as well and you can't U.S. government assistance programs on that. There are plenty of people around the world who have fat and healthy bank accounts because of this mess.

Anyway let's hope these can change even if it's a slow process.

I agree... this crisis didn't appear from one day to another..and not only in the US though it is seems more serious there.. there were many signs being ignored before thiscrisis appeared .. but why stop a crisis from happening when you can profit from it? i guess this is the major problem in completely privatized companies.. the governments most of the times don't have interest/the guts to step in and make changes in time..

I almost want to read this book because it might be quite amusing.
