My friend texted me to let me know about this, she's had Sky News (UK news channel on) for the past 45 minutes or so, and she also says that TMZ are usually accurate with their reports. I am gobsmacked, this is a shocker.

I'm totally sucker punched over this. I'm not even old enough to remember him in his heyday, sadly I only really recall the circus that has surrounded him in recent times, but I still know without a doubt that he was a musical legend. Thriller is possibly the best video of all time. It's just really hard to believe that he's gone actually.

I was shocked when I heard this news. I thought he was incredibly talented, and Thriller is still the greatest video that I've ever seen. May he rest in peace.

I expected them to say that he was in critical condition but he wasn't actually dead. It's pretty surprising.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe that Michael Jackson is gone! This is unreal. Oh, how very, very sad.

This is a shock. I still think the best show I've ever seen on tv was the Motown 25th anniversary program in 1984. Michael Jackson and his brothers performing their old songs was just electrifying. You can still catch it on youtube. The best thing was the audience reaction when they were on - people were literally standing up and screaming.
