Well i woudn't but people do, we hear about it happening. I presume on holiday it happens a lot more because where told how much they love and adore and protect children in Europe and parents think there safer letting there children go to a shop by themselves to buy a drink or an ice cream. And i'm not a parent so i cant look at it from a parents view point either. But I have seen tourists be a lot more lax on the continent than you would see them be in this country. Tourist resorts like this always seem so safe and child friendly so parents are lulled into a false sense of security where think this sort of tragedy wont happen.

A few 'celebrities' have come forward in defense of the parents and have said they've done it. Fiona Phillips, presenter of GMTV, wrote in her column that she left her children in the hotel room and went downstairs to the hotel resturant for something to eat when they were sleeping and after this case she would never do it again.

They were saying this morning that the blackness of her pupil leaks into the iris, which you can see it that picture. Its something identifiable about her.

I know last night there was a message going around in the UK for all mothers to light a candle and say a prayer for her safe return home.

I hope the little girl returns to her home. It's just terrible what happened.

In the beggining, I also blamed the parents. I still think they were stupid and irresponsable, but now I feel sorry for them more than anything.

Same with me, my first reaction was to blame the parents but when you see them on TV, especially the mother, who you can just see her heartbreak and anguish your heart just goes out to them because you know they have to be constantly punishing themselves for that decision. I just so desperatly want her to be found safe and well.

I just heard on TV they've arrested a man, but he hasn't been charged yet.

Sorry for the double post...I found new news.

Quote:
A Norwegian tourist has claimed she might have spotted Madeleine McCann in Morocco.

Marie Olli, who lives in Spain and once lived in Leicestershire, says she saw a blonde girl who looked just like the four-year-old at a petrol station in the city of Marrakech nine days ago.

The "sad" girl initially appeared to be standing on her own, but Olli claims an "anonymous-looking" man in his late 30s then came over and the girl asked him: "Can I see mummy soon?"

I hope it's her

Why did she wait nine days to tell someone this. If it was Maddy, she'd be so far away now.

I find it so sad and so heartbreaking.

I feel bad for everyone.

However, my Dad and I were talking about this whole case, and you know, he told me that they even had a special room where parents can leave their children in case the parents wanted to go out.

Very sad.

I really hope that Maddy returns home safe and sound.

I hope that she is found very much safe and sound. At first i was upset with the parents, but I go over to my neighbors apartment and we sit outside. The chances of someone going into my apartment and taking my kids without me seeing them is slim to none, but it could happen.

Her parents are heartbroken, and deserve their little girl to come home.

New leads in Madeleine McCann kidnap case
Malaysia Sun
Sunday 20th May, 2007

Portuguese police are following further leads in the Madeleine McCann kidnap case.

Police sources in the Algarve region have confirmed their only suspect, Briton Robert Murat, had phone contact with a key witness on the night the little girl disappeared.

A Russian man, Sergey Malinka, reportedly told detectives that he and Mr Murat had not spoken for a year, although police have now confirmed the men did have telephone contact on the night Madeleine went missing.

Meanwhile, Madeleine McCann's father has returned to the U.K. from Portugal.

Gerry McCann has flown home to meet organisers of the campaign to find his daughter.

He is expected to spend 24 hours in England before re-joining his wife Kate and two-year-old twins.

Mrs McCann is remaining at the family's holiday apartment in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz, to wait for news of Madeleine.

While the search goes on, money has been pouring in to the 'Find Madeleine' fighting fund.

The latest total is £73,505, but does not include money collected by banks, building societies and uncleared cheques.

A website set up to find the missing child has received around 97 million hits and 50,000 messages of support since its launch on Wednesday.

Madeleine McCann Suspect Robert Murat: His Alibi Doesn't Wash
By Mitch Marconi
May 20, 2007
Madeleine McCann Report - Robert Murat, the main suspect in the hunt for missing Madeleine McCann last night refused an offer to take a lie detector test. Murat , 33, proclaims that he did not snatch the four year-old away from her hotel room.

Murat has now hired a team of lawyers, fearing he could be put under arrest.

The UK Sunday Express is reporting that police are beleived to be waiting for the results of DNA samples. Under Portugese law, authorities need further evidence before they can arrest him, let alone press charges.

Murat, whose actions have been scrutinized, including a late night call to Sergey Malinka the night before, has claimedinnocence in the face of alleged inconsistencies. Murat has refused to reveal what the phone call was about.

Murat contends that he was home in bed when the Madeleine went missing from her family's nearby vacatation apartment at around 10pm on May 3. However, according to police sources, he used his cellphone at 11:40pm to Russian computer expert Sergey Malinka, though both men claim they hardly know each other. This puts a serious crimp in his alibi.

The website - Bring Madeleine Home - highlights 4-year-old Madeleine's kidnapping and gives details about how to donate to the fund.

Psychic advisors join the hunt for Madeleine McCann
Hunt for missing girl reaches a new level
Article by Karen Williams

Police hunting the whereabouts of missing 4 year old Madeleine McCann have started using a wider range of resources including a ‘TRV’ – Technical Remote Viewers, a psychic investigator.

As well as engaging the services of some of the worlds best known police ESP advisors, several ‘Cracker’ style police psychologists and investigators have also joined the hunt.

Madeleine McCann vanished from her ground floor apartment almost three weeks ago as her parents left her unattended while they dined at a nearby restaurant. The search for the missing girl has been extensive throughout the time that she has been missing and police are no clearer to knowing where she may have been taken to until now.

The use of psychic investigators have been used many times before. Some in famous cases such as the Yorkshire ripper, the disappearance of teenager Milly Dowler and another missing girl in the US by the name of Leah Freeman.

Police say that often these resources can be used as a last resort but also because information from TRV’s can sometimes bring in leads that can help to solve some of the most serious of cases.

However there are many sceptics that say that remote viewers are merely elaborate hoaxers that have no more ability than the man on the street and that they simply hinder the real investigation by throwing up false leads.

There was no mistaking one famous case in the United States when a remote viewer helped solve the case of missing girl also named Maddie in 1999.

Maddie Rae Clifton disappeared in Jacksonville, Florida in 1999 and two PSI TECH viewers, Ed Dames and Ingo Swann both of CIA US intelligence performed initial probes and after only forty-five minutes were able to determine that the child was no longer alive.

They also ascertained that the missing girl was submerged in water, trapped beneath a metal grate or grid. The following day, she was found underneath a neighbor's waterbed. She had been murdered.

Technical Remote Viewers have not been used in this latest case of missing 4 year old Madeleine McCann to date because Portuguese Police said that they had enough positive leads to follow up and that they were confident that the child would be found in relative quick time.

However, several psychic readers have come forward and have suggested that the child was driven out of Portugal and into Spain on the evening that she went missing.

One psychic viewer suggested that Maddie was still alive and living somewhere near to a farm in Southern Spain. They suggested that there were goats and a dog nearby and that there was a child at the location who was being cared for and who was safe but unhappy to be away from her parents.

Police say that the remote viewer was uncertain and that she was receiving a vision of a child from a distant past or whether it was a recent vision. Also the child appeared to be much older than Madeleine.

A team of special officers in Southern Spain were alerted to the allegations and were dispatched to seek out such locations. Apparently, they are continuing to search all remote areas of Southern Spain as well as contacting known criminals living in and working in farms across Southern Spain and Portugal.

“Finding the exact location of a target presents its own unique set of difficulty” says Mr Dames. “Most times we are dealing with homogenous terrain and typical types of buildings and vehicles: waterways, bridges, lakes, holes in the ground. We have to find out which vehicle, which waterway, which building, which city or town.”

“We employ advanced techniques to pin point unique geography and significant features. This is the hardest part of our operation. This is the point where patience and experience is essential for success. This is where most mistakes are made due to lack of thoroughness or rush to judgment.”

“When the data reveals a particular city, the search then begins to be narrowed, where in the city? If the data points to train tracks and water, which train tracks? Which body of water? Working from the general to the specific, the search continues until a precise site is pinpointed.”

In the case of missing girl Madeleine McCann, Police are open to all suggestions but are treating each with appropriate levels of skepticism. “There have been a lot of claims about what has happened to Maddie ever since the reward money was raised to £2.5million” said one police officer. “We have to be very careful that we don’t lose sight of the things we already know when following up some of these new claims”.

Meanwhile, in Pliai Da Luz, the hunt for Madeleine McCann continues and Kate and Gerry McCann have vowed to stay in Portugal until the whereabouts of their child is determined and she is returned safely.
