Hehe, you need to go to Guantanamo Bay for that?

Going O/T

Is it just me or is being patronizing a 'cool' thing to do, all of a sudden. I can't stomach myself on replying to another's post back on the Hamas thread but jeez, ya'd think that people could show a little more civilty to fellow posters.

Yeah but do we consider Ann Coulter to even be a writer? She jams her sentences with so much vile stuff that you just can't help but laugh at her. She's pathetic and basically a racist.

But for fun..check out anticoulter.com.

Theere's no new stuff there but my favorite is when they catch her in a lie about her real age. Or when she says that Thomas Jefferson was never a President. She's really not that bright either.

ETA - Stella Slight - I saw that on TV last night..that sounds good. Do you anticipate any major governmental changes on policy because of it? Would they consider repealing the ban on the scarf for Muslim girls for instance or is that pretty much set?

ros - yeah unfortunately if you're the slightest bit critical of Israel you get labeled an anti-Semite or worse. Sad thing is I think that until the Israeli/Palestinian issue is solved there will never be a stable Middle East. Too much postering and name calling goes on anytime you discuss the problem.

Ceilirose Yes, it's a good thing. The results this morning were even better with 21 regions won out of 22. There is alot of talking right now between the president and the Prime Minister, but I don't think there'll be any changes in the goverment. The problem is that, although the regions have been given alot of power on the local scale, they won't pass any laws on a national scale, which means that the goverment will probably maintain their reforms and laws, like the one on the scarf in schools.

ros2nz, you shouldn't bother in this thread. They're for a war that makes thousands of innocent victims, they're probably okay for all the casualties made in the name of war against terror too. Oh, and of course, we're the 'hateful' people again ("lots lots lots of anti-Israel feelings").
Yet, I should check this thread out. I'm curious of what has been said since...

ceilierose - thanks. I know what you mean. By no means am I an anti-Semite but I do question Israel's military activites. That makes me a racist Nazi. Jeez.

Anne - Don't bother. There's no point in even reading that sort of blind bias.

This was in The Onion this week and I thought it was funny:

SATIRE!

Quote:
Bush Urges Iraqis To Pass Amendment Banning
Gay Marriage

BAGHDAD—In a private meeting with Mohammed Bahr al-Ulloum, President Bush urged the Iraqi Governing Council president to amend the recently ratified Iraqi constitution to protect the sanctity of heterosexual marriage. "The Iraqi constitution, signed just a few short weeks ago, will usher in a new era of democratic freedom in Iraq," Bush said. "But there are some unlawful and unholy acts that the constitution's original drafters could not have possibly intended to protect." Bush then told al-Ulloum he must act quickly and decisively to preserve his country's most sacred tradition.

Eh, Bush is preaching in Iraq now? Is he that desperate?

ros2nz actually I went to reply on that thread. I mean, the subject of Israel/Palestine is a delicate one that is worth being discusssed, way more than Janet Jackson's boob.
And I had to reply, just because conservatives tend to mix things up. You know, like define democrats as anti-democracy people because we don't fully support Israel, a democracy that is building a barrier on thousands of people's home to gain more territories.
Seriously I support neither of them, but I sure won't follow blindly a nation because it acts in the name of war against terror

You all are brave to post on any thread about Israel and Palestine. I subscribe to salon.com and last week they had one of their editors (Gary Kamiya) visiting both places just after the assasination of Yassim.

This is his opening paragraph:

Quote:
I have just spent two days with decent and intelligent people, Palestinians and Israelis, who because of the stupidity of their leaders and the shameful folly of my government are living a life I would not wish on a dog.
That basically describes his article and feelings..both sides are caught in this vicious circle that they can't escape from and their governments are really failing them and the US is not really doing anything pro-active. Sounds about right to me.

The Onion is a satirical online newspaper. It's all very fake and very funny .

I don't think the Israel and Palestine issue is as cut and dry as some people make it out to be.

I hate that not total 100% support for Israel automatically seems to make you "anti-semetic" on this board.

I can assure you, I am not and do not stand for such a thing.

The basic problem is that it's one land with two people's contesting it.
