Doesn't he also have on of those big ship-aircraft carrier-ilitary boat things named after him?

I'm pretty sure the only thing that has not been named after Reagan is a car engine and I'm sure that's coming along in the near future. Why don't we just rename the planet from "earth" to "Reagan"?

I heard they want to change Baltimore County, Maryland (where I live) to name it after Reagan. It's really getting to be a bit much.

Ever since 911, people keep going on emotion. It's the republicans best weapon on the American people. They start messing up and then we're either unpatriotic or don't love our country. Something happens and they use whatever small tragedy it is to the max to get their way. So many are falling for it! Grrr...it's driving me nuts. I can't wait till november to put my vote in for Kerry.

I saw a really funny Doonesbury cartoon a few months back where they had Bush holding a press conference, and any time one of the reporters tried to ask a legitimate question about one of Bush’s policies, the answer would be “9/11.” I thought that was perfect.

I saw that one. Yeah, it was amusing.

I forgot about the aircraft carrier named after him.

Maybe if the District of Columbia becomes a state it can be called the District of Reagan.

I saw some of his funeral service in Washington. The references to the evil empire were in bad taste considering this isn't the 80's anymore and how the present Bush has mangled relations with other countries by his use of that word.

The best eulogy came from the Bush I. It was personal and sincere. The others just sort of rambled on and on.

I love how the Hollywood-ish funerals with all the sunset is distracting America's attention, trying to make them forget about all the mess that occurs elsewhere in the world.

European elections today, and I've seen lots of people more concerned about the Football Euro 2004 competition than the elections.
Not that I'm not concerned about the Football competition, by the way.

It's sort of ironic that Reagan has an airport named after him. What was that mess between him and the air traffic controllers in the 80's? Someone refresh my memory.

I haven't taken in any media for the past few days to avoid nausea.

I'm very, very, very worried that Bush Jr. might start coasting on this Reagan nostalgia. Like his family and money aren't enough.

Reagan fired all of the air traffic controllers in 1981 or 1982 when they launched a wildcat strike against the government. Everyone was replaced if I remember correctly.

Over the weekend there was a report on ABC news about how the old Reagan staffers came back together last week to coordinate his funeral. It was called Operation Seranade. One of their objectives was to show the positive points of the Reagan years to the one hundred million or so people who either weren't born or weren't old enough to remember those years themselves.

So naturally you heard little to nothing about Iran Contra, his avoidance of the AIDS epidemic, the air traffic controllers strike or how close to 30 people in his Administration were either indicted or charged with various crimes.

The So-Called Liberal Media just lapped it up. If I didn't remember Reagan I would even think that he was one of the greatest Presidents of all time by listening to CNN or NBC.

I was born in '78 (hence my screen name). My family moved around 6 times due to layoffs, job changes during the 80's. And both my parents had college degrees.

Which is why I sort of laugh when people talk about the 80's boom. I never saw it, and neither did a lot of families I knew. If anything Reagan might have just created the "working poor" (but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

That's why I'm worried. Like you said ceilirose, there are a lot of people who are of voting age now (or will be in the next few years) who are absorbing this. It's scaring me.

And Dubya can maybe co-opt another "legacy" along with his father's.

Maybe b/c "operations" sounds important? That's a good question.

I think it's because "operation" is the only word they know. It's kind of like how McDonalds likes to put a "Mc" in front of everything.

For once, I'd like to see a "project", or a "venture" or perhaps a "mission".

Or they try to make everything sound important. If you think it about it, all those words except maybe 'mission' doesn't sound too appealing. Now, with the whole 'mission' thing, I keep thinking Mission Impssible.
