Kid gets 30 years for murdering of grandparents at 30

Anyone esle heard about this?

Christopher Pittman killed his grandparents when he was 12 with a gun. His defense claimed the medication he was on, which was not approved for kids, drove him to it. His family, including his Dad sister and maternal grandparents, all support him.

What do you guys think?

I think that is harsh for someone who did that when he was 12. If his Dad (whom parents he killed) AND his entire family is behind and forgive him I think it's none of the courts damn business. He should not have gotten 30 years. That's just messed up.

Considering what this kid did, shooting his grandparents and then setting their house on fire i'd say he got off easy. I don't really care if he's a kid, doing stuff like that deserves no pity.

Does it really matter if his parents support him? Child molestor parents support their kid too. A murderer is a murderer.

Then exactly what kind of punishment should he have received? I don't care if his entire family is behind him and forgiving - he killed two people. Killing is against the law which is why this is the court's business.

Here is article about the case for those that may not know what we are talking about -
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,147776,00.html
(by the way, I hope the foxnews.com reference does not offend again but I couldn't find it on cnn.com)

Here are a few quotes from the above article:

Quote:
The prosecution countered he was simply angry at his grandparents for disciplining him for choking a younger student on a school bus. Following the slayings, Pittman burned the couple's Chester County home and drove off in their car.
Quote:
Christopher Pittman initially told police that a black man shot his grandparents, burned down the house and kidnapped him.
Quote:
(Prosecutor) He pointed to Pittman's statement to police in which he said his grandparents "deserved it."

30 years sounds fair to me.

I wouldn't put a kid behind bars for life for something he did when he was 12.

Well let's consider this...

Murder is murder, I agree, however Zoloft is a drug that you do not give a 12 year old. It even says that on the box and in the content label. The doctor who precribed this should have known. A 12 years-old brain is still growing, connections are still growing and being connecting, adding a powerful drug like Zoloft to the mix can send the connections and synapses out of whack creating a manic state.

He has been remorceful since day one and I think 30 years is way too much. I think the doctor should be responsible too, I mean he could have killed the grandparents himself by giving the kid the drug.
