I'm watching Larry King now and they're talking about what happened to Jett Travolta. It was confirmed that he did die from a seizure and that he has been cremated. *sigh* I'm at least happy that they had time to spend together as a family before his passing. John Travolta said he spent his last few days with his son on a boat and that they took nice pictures. What a loving family. I feel so sorry for them.

I've been avoiding all the news coverage of this, because I find it all rather exploitative. A child has died and, because his parents are famous, it's like the vultures are out. Like we all need to know the cause of death. Like it matters whether he had Kawasaki or was autistic. Like his parents's religious beliefs matter at this point in time.

A child is dead. And they're treating it like something they can make money reporting on.

I am sad. I am appalled and sad. And, without turning my little rant here into full on melodrama, I feel very odd about even saying that I am sad. Because I'm only sad because I know who his parents are. Children die every day. It's always sad and tragic. But because this particular child had famous parents, I now know more about his death than I am personally comfortable knowing about a person I have never met nor will ever meet. It feels too much like gossip.

But I am sad.

What's bad is the questions flying around about whether John Travolta will give his child a proper burial because of the whole Scientology thing and so forth. My goodness.

I'm just so sickened by the whole thing.

I have issues with Scientology. But, for the love of God... The child had two nannies tasked with his care. Two coroners examined his body. If anything amiss had been actually going on, it would have been known. There are entire websites devoted to revealing all of Scientology's nasty secrets and the many ways in which it has been directly or indirectly involved in people's deaths...

Whatever their belief system, these people lost their baby. And we're not talking about a kid who was locked in a basement or parents who left him at home while they spent their lives travelling the world or whatever. And they just lost their baby boy. Let's leave them alone.

Seriously, every time I read about this, I just cry. I am just so heartbroken for John, Kelly, Ella, and the rest of their families. Its so sad.

Rest in peace, Jett.

ETA - I am getting tired of the media making out money out of this too. Give the family time to breathe as well as to grieve. Its rude.

In terms of whatever condition Jett had, it seems to me personallly he was well taken care of, whether it be the family and or nannies. And all honestly, this family was also so close, and I doubt very much he didn't have the proper care.
