I just read that. So sad. Most people know him from Law & Order, but I'll always remember him as Baby's father in Dirty Dancing, the man who put Baby in a corner.

I just saw this - so so sad. I used to be a Law & Order junkie, and he pretty much represented the show to me. I had no idea he even had cancer.

Aww, extremely sad.

I loved him as Lenny Briscoe on Law & Order! And, of course, as Baby's dad in Dirty Dancing. Tragic, indeed.

Aww, what a shame! I thought he was great in Law & Order, and I saw him in 42nd Street years ago, and he was fantastic in it. He was an incredibly talented man who had a long and distinguished career, and I'm definitely going to mourn his passing.

Holy s**t! What a total shock! My sympathies to his family and friends. Man I really liked him. He was a good actor and it was sad he left Law and Order and I was looking forward to his new L&O series. What a shame.

I guess it is a reminder for us men to get our annual prostate exam.

Wow...that's so sad. I'm guessing that maybe he found out he had prostate cancer and that's why he left the show...because I don't ever recall any sort of press release on him having cancer. It's sad, though.

I'm glad you mentioned that. Most people aren't aware that JO orginated a lot of parts in musical theater. He was a very versatile and great actor.
