Well, if you think you don't need to justify your instinctive beliefs then fair enough. I guess I just didn't like how Guadalupe Lopez was being talked down just because she happened to mother Jennifer Lopez and happened to win some money. But to each his own!

i think it's quite ridiculous to argue if she deserves the money just because her daughter is rich...she was playing a game many people in the casino were playing and she won...which is why people play it in the first place....she can do whatever she wants with the money it's her and she won it...

I think it's great! People seem to think that just because J-Lo is loaded her mother is automatically getting her monthly cut. That might not be so. There's nothing like your own money. Plus, 2 million dollars isn't a whole lot of money people. After Uncle Sam gets his cut, and she sets up God only knows how many $100,000 trust funds for her Grandkids, and of course additional perks for herself. I doubt there will be enough for her to sit on for the next 5-10 years. The only way I could see that happening is if she made solid investments with most of the money.

2 mil is a hell of a lot of money, unless you're rich then it's pocket change. a person could definately live comfortably off that for the rest of their lives unless of course, you buy $3000 handbags.
she had the right to win it, but yeah - God, there are other people more in need that you could have helped out.

Well, good for her, I suppose. The most I've ever won is a giant teddy bear. I was the envy of the mall that day, I was.

She doesn't even need that much money, if she really needed that much money she could have asked her daughter for it.

IMO if she's got any class she'll donate a lot of it to charity. Her daughter is a multimillionaire who is fully capable of seeing that she's financially sound for the rest of her life. To keep $2.4 million for yourself when you've already got plenty is just selfish.

So do all people who have more then $2 million dollars selfish because they don't donate it all to charity?

From the sounds of it, she's setting up scholarships for her granddaughters (and the question has to be asked, why wouldn't J'Lo do that?) which is the right way to spend it. She won it, fair and square, and she can do whatever she wants with it.

Personally, I'd think it'd be pretty embarassing to be finacially supported by my child. Mind you, it'd be pretty embarassing to be supported by gambling as well, but still. Maybe she doesn't want to go to her daughter for money?

I can not believe you people are analyzing this. You must really have a lot of time on your hands. She won, so what's the big deal. She got lucky. Just because her daughter is rich doesn't mean that she is. She doesn't have albums or movies under her belt, she isn't dating TV stars. Who cares if she's more deserving or not. She pulled the lever, she won the cash. You can believe luck, karma, God, whatever you want. She won, who cares...get a life.

I can't see why she would have a problem being supported by her child. You take care of your kids when they are young and when they can they take care of you.

Then again that's just me and probably everyone doesn't think like that.

It just seems that fate has a crappy sense of fairness in doling out the cash.

I don't know, I'd just feel a bit iffy about being supported by my children, especially before I'm old.

Last time I was in Atlantic City I was 18 and couldn't play and I got sick

Besides I would never play in a Casino.

I think it's great she won, I'm happy for her like I would for anyone. Must've been exciting!
