I'm starting to feel like we need a thread just to post beaheading-news on, because there's always a new case.

You'd think these people would realise the whole kidnapping and beheading bit doesn't work. But then again, isn't one of the signs of instanity doing something over and over and expecting a different result? Or is that just a sign of stupidity?

I think a beheading topic is kind of morbid..but might be needed..seems like we get a new one about once a week.

I think the terrorists realize that they have little shot of these beheadings working RIGHT NOW, as in..stopping the action of said country..or making the country to do something... BUT, what it might do is turn the people more and more against the country, then maybe 2-4 years down the road..the people kick them out..and then new regime does what the terrorists wanted.

In a way, the terrorists are getting what they wanted..they are getting lots of media attention..and scaring/fearing people.

Thats what the terrorists want..to scare people..heck terror ..

so we shall see..I see no direct results of these beheadings..but down the road there might be results for the terrorists.

I said to my mom the same thing, right after the 2nd American (Johnson something) was kidnapped. They keep doing this because they're stupid, because its pretty obvious that no country will do what they want.. and yet they keep doing it. I mean they wouldn't even be the way they are if they were smart anyway.

Yeah a beheading thread would be really morbid.

Will these people never learn? They are not accomplishing anything with this savage behavior.

i hate hate hate these "people." they're not even animals. even lions or bears aren't like this. i don't care if you believe in hell, these people need to rot in it. and if you look at what happened in spain after thier terrorist attack, for all we know, they do think it works. i honestly do not believe there is a punishment bad enough. i occasionaly stumble accross pics of the people with thier eyes covered looking so helpless before they are killed. and it infuriates me.

what angers me even more is that people try to say it's b/c of bush. yeah, freaking right. they were up to this far before bush came into office. they were doing it during the clinton administration. so do you blame him? well i don't any more than i blame bush. they would do it if santa claus was POTUS. THIS is why we are fighting the war on terror and THIS is why it's so important that we stick with it.

Turkey Says Three Hostages Released in Iraq

ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Turkey on Tuesday said three Turkish hostages held under threat of execution by an al Qaeda-linked militant group in Iraq had been freed.

"We only know they have been released," a Turkish government official told Reuters, saying he had no other immediate details.

Al Jazeera television, monitored in Dubai, said a group led by suspected al Qaeda operative Abu Musab al-Zarqawi had freed the three.

The group had kidnapped the three civilian workers last week and threatened to behead them on Tuesday unless Turks stopped working for U.S.-led forces in Iraq.

State-run Anatolian news agency said Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul confirmed the release of the three hostages.

"Jama'at al-Tawhid and Jihad announces the release of the Turkish hostages for the sake of Muslims in Turkey and their demonstrations against (U.S. President George W.) Bush," a masked man said on a video recording aired by Jazeera.

"We will return these men to a safe place after they vowed to end their support for the infidels (Americans). We also ask your foolish people to end their cooperation with the occupiers or we will execute them."

A three-day visit by Bush to Turkey for a NATO summit has been met by widespread demonstrations against his policies in Iraq. Public opinion in Muslim Turkey has been strongly against the U.S.-led invasion.

The grainy Jazeera video showed the three Turks sitting on the floor with masked, armed men standing behind them. A banner on a wall carried the name of Jordanian-born Zarqawi's Jama'at al-Tawhid group.

Another two Turkish men taken hostage in Iraq three weeks ago have told their families they are well and will return to Turkey within a week, Turkish media reported on Tuesday.
