Hollywood Stars supporting the people of Burma (Myanmar)

Burma has been under military dictatorship for decades, and people are dying every day due to this. Their lawful elected leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, who also won the Nobel Peace Prize and the US Congressional Medal of Honor, is under house arrest for years. The regime has the biggest child army in the world, having forced about 70,000 children as young as 12 to join the military.

A few days ago, a Cyclone hit Burma and killed 100,000 people, and the regime is banning international aid for the poor people that are affected by the catastrophe.

This needs to stop! This is why, Hollywood stars, such as Will Ferrell, Jennifer Aniston and Woody Harrelson, Eric Szmanda and Jorja Fox,
Eddie Izzard, Julie Benz and Wally Langham, decided to support the people of Burma (also known as Myanmar).

They are part of a 30 days campaign, during which we hope to raise 1,000,000 voices for Burma, and push the UN to act on Burma. All those atrocities can be stopped, if we join forces and make the facts known worldwide.

I am writing this because we need each of you to sign up and join this cause. You only need to write your name - not your address, not to donate money - just write your name as support for people of Burma.

There will be 30 videos, one every day for 30 days, and today is the 9th day. You can watch these videos on the Burma: It Can't Wait, US Campaign for Burma, and the Human Rights Action Center websites, and also on youtube.

We urge you to share these videos with as many people as possible, to help people understand how and why this started in the first place. Then, urge them to sign up for the campaign of one million. Burma needs you.

Thank you!

This information kicks butt. Thank you so much for bringing it over. I hope, I really hope and pray, that this horrible tragedy can become a catalyst for a better life for the people of Burma.

I heard on the news today that the cyclone has compromised Burma's rice crop. Funny how that keeps popping up... Well, not funny-funny, but you know...

Anyway, apparently, and this is something I didn't know, Burma contributes 20% of the world's rice stocks. So that's potentially 20% of the world's rice that won't be happening this year...
