German politicians tell men to have more sex

Conservatives warn of being labeled ‘limp’ abroad

BERLIN - Conservative politicians are urging German men to have more sex to boost birth rates or risk being labeled “limp” abroad, a newspaper reported on Friday.

Johannes Singhammer, a member of parliament and father of six, said Germany’s aging population needed to produce more offspring to sustain its overstretched pensions system.

“Children are our future,” Singhammer told Germany’s Bild newspaper. “Germans need to work more on that again in bed. Things mustn’t get to the stage where German men are scoffed at abroad for being limp.”

His words were echoed by fellow conservative Armin Klein, who said Germans had become too selfish.

“We need to have the courage to have sex and take the consequences,” said Klein, who has two children. “People concentrating on themselves, which has led to a life without children for many, has gone wrong.”

Germany will have the world’s oldest population by 2035, according to a report in Germany’s Der Spiegel weekly.
I'm completely against this. The world is already over-populated to begin with, why make it worse?

If anyone's being selfish, it's the German government for trying to convince its people that they are "limp" and "concentrating on themselves" just because they know a thing or two about birth control.

If this is such a disasterous thing for their economy, then encouraging them to adopt would be the better route.

I can see your point about it being wrong, and such, but I think they might have a point. People need to have kids to keep their culture alive. Sure, adoption is one way, but there are a lot of people out there who want to have their own kids if they can.

So now the "manliness" of Germany is a matter of political discussion. I'm totally sure that all across the world, people are looking at Germany's aging population and going, "Oh, those German men. They ain't got no balls."

I agree with the overpopulation thing. Adopt, people, adopt.

The only reason why German politicians want more babies to be born is to rescue the German state pension system. Which would be fine with me because that would save my job.
Anyway... I can confirm that we have too many old people and not enough young people to pay for the old people's pension.

However, the solution to the problem would be creating jobs so that people would have a perspective in life again and feel up to having children. Right now, many people I know say they don't want any children because they can't give them the life they wish their children to have. Oh well...

Gosh, how pathetic, because of course that's what the rest of the world cares about whether German men can get it up.

Who cares!

It's disgusting and horrible. Yes, Germany like a lot of Western countries have a falling birth rate, why cant some politicians look into providing suitable support so women can have children but continue careers.

It's almost as disgusting as the Australian treasurer who told women to "have one for the nation"

I know how disgusting was that - particularly coming from Peter Costello, he just gives me the creeps. They have just started giving a $3000 one off payment now to people when they have a baby here in Australia to try and encourage them to have more kids, as well as to bolster their vote (We are in an election year).

There is such a huge overpopulation problem in this world. Just because all the baby boomers are getting nervous about who is going to support them now they are getting older, they want to repeat the same mistakes and perpetuate the problem. If these attempts succeed, in 50 years time we will be in the same situation all over again. But I guess these politicians will be long gone by then, why should they let the future effects of their policies bother them?

that's certainly not because they said so that I'm gonna do it!

But they're right : our pension system is collapsing and without higher birth rates i don't see how we can get out of this situation!

I completely agree with this. Much better idea then encouraging them to have more children.
