Frozen Turkey Thrown From Car Injures Woman.

Frozen turkey thrown from car injures woman
Police looking for group of teens
Thursday, November 18, 2004 Posted: 7:55 AM EST (1255 GMT)

RONKONKOMA, New York (AP) -- A 20-pound frozen turkey was thrown through the windshield of a woman's moving car, critically injuring her, police said.

The bird was tossed out the window of an oncoming vehicle, and a passenger in the 44-year-old woman's car took hold of the steering wheel and guided it to the side of the road, police said.

Police said a group of teenagers had purchased the turkey with a stolen credit card at a supermarket on the same road where the incident happened early Saturday. The teens were being sought for questioning.

The 44-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical condition.

Ronkonkoma is in the approximate geographic center of New York's Long Island, about 50 miles east of New York City.

I know it's serious, but the title just made me crack up.

I do hope the woman is okay, and maybe the kids should get a smacking from a LIVE turkey. That'd be amusing to watch.

How many times have you walked out in front of a bus, been knocked over, and killed? It's pretty frustrating, isn't it?

Don't they have better things to do? Do they actually think throwing a turkey from a car is sooo freaking cool? I can just imagine the conversation, "Hey, I know what would be awesome! Let's buy a turkey and throw it out the car window. Haha!"

The title reminded me of that old story about the woman who thought she'd been shot when a can of biscuit dough exploded onto her head.

People do the dumbest freakin' things. Why the hell would you throw a turkey out the window?

This made national news?

It's really awful that this happened. The woman was in surgery for 10 hours to reconstruct her face and needed to have a tracheotomy. She had several fractured bones in her face and her jaw was wired shut.

What is wrong with kids today?

A turkey? It came through the windscreen? Jesus Christ!

Can't people like that find better things to do with their lives? That poor woman.
