France has been threatened by islamic organizations for the past decade. They even tried their first 9/11 by hijacking a plane to crash it on the Eiffel Tower. I guess it's because of our own ambigous relations with our past colonies like Algeria.

Looks like this time their object of anger is the new law on the scarf at public schools.

Yes, StellaSlight is right, there was an attempt in 1995, i think, to crash a plane on the Eiffel Tower, but a group of intervention called the GIGN prevented it.

Anyway, Europe has always had to fight terrorism, long before Al-Qaida : Action Directe in the 70's in France, and the FIS in the 80's/90's. IRA for Great Britain, ETA for Spain, the RED Brigades for Italy.

So Al-Qaida is a threat, but we are used to terrorism, wherever it comes from.

terrorists will attack who terrorists will attack. appeasing them ala france will not help. they have no morals and no concern for human life. they only way to stop them is to make them incapeable.

And to do that, we need to really understand and fix the roots of terrorism, not just try and make 'examples' out of those in custody.

These 'examples' tend to serve as the root for yet another geneartion of suicide bombers.

I'm sure the French government craved to appease the terrorists when they voted the law to ban veils in public schools. Wait, they did a poor job at it. Wait, maybe because it's not the case?

If I have to read the word "appeasement" one more time I'm going to piss myself.

But hey, how is France appeasing terrorists? They've got 200 elite soldiers in Afghanistant looking for Bin Laden (remember him?).

I dont really think thats funny..I mean..ironic maybe..but elite soldiers have more in common with other elite soldiers..plus..they need to know they got each other's backs so they dont get fuqed up.
