Fence on the Border with Mexico.

Anyone here about this? Dennis Hasert House speaker, wants to build a fence on the mexican border.

Coincides with the Time article, where Mexico was going to be 'staging grounds' for nukes to cross the border (from al Qaida)

I dunno about the fence..the economic impact would be horrendous. Farms/construction. prices would go sky high.

That's stupid. Fences can't even keep cows in.

True, I mean something needs to be done about our borders but a fence? I think they need to go back to the drawing board on this one.

I was under the impression that a large part of the border already had a fence/wall. But currently it may be just near the cities.

Fences don't work - for confirmation of that, people could just call Ariel Sharon.

I haven looked at the actual plan yet..but there is suppose to be more checkpoints..I guess the fence just doesnt make the border a easy place to cross with a nuke or something.

I really need to get a hold of that Time magazine article.

Mexico just needs to get their act together so peeps wouldn't feel the need to leave and come to the US.

I lived in a town on the border that was next to a medium-sized Mexican town and there was a fence. There were gravestones for people who tried to "jump" it and failed. I think certain parts of it were also designed to...well, electrocute people.
