Thanks for the new thread, Emily. I've closed the old one, added the tags to this one and I'm about to go edit in the new link to our Thread Guide.

So, anybody else watch the Royal Wedding today?

I'm on vacation, so I didn't really think I would since that usually means I'm sleeping in massively. But, perversely, I woke up at 7 o'clock (EST) this morning and couldn't go back to sleep.

So I caught the last bit of it (meaning the balcony kiss mostly).

I'm not really into that whole scene, but I have to say that I thought her dress was absolutely gorgeous.

Yes, I watched it and might I say - what a beautiful wedding. Kate looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress. Very simple but elegant as well. Best part was just how happy they were. I couldn't be more happy for the newlyweds.

Yw!

I watched part of the wedding, but it was kind of annoying the commentators where making fun of people`s clothing. But they both looked happy!

For the parts that I watched, I know that I kept hopping from channel to channel. There were enough stations covering the event that, if I didn't like what I was hearing, I could just hop to another one.

I do think some of the hats were pretty funny (and not in a good way), though.

I am always surprised at these kinds of fashion risks. At a such a high profile event I would think they would want to play it safer. Maybe they just wanted to stand out?

Yeah. I'm really not fashionable at all. I would imagine that, if I ever tried to "compete" with the fashionable girls out there, it would come out looking pretty ridiculous, too.

Maybe that's what happens with some of these girls. Some people have it inately. They take risks and it all works out. Some people just don't have it and, when they take risks, it's a disaster.

I think the strangest hat worn was by Princess Beatrice but from what I've read her choice of hats have always been a bit peculiar.

Which one was Princess Beatrice? The crazy skirt with feathered weirdness on top or the beige on beige with curvy antlers?

Beige on Beige

It was kind of funny watching the Wendy Williams Show after the wedding and seeing her call Prince Charles wife Camille the "side-piece".

Ah, thanks for the information.

And poor Duchess of Cornwall. I thought she looked lovely.

The Rolling Stones, Coldplay and Girls Aloud are being lined up to perform at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

A star-studded concert is scheduled to be held at The O2 in the UK next year and organisers are keen to secure top music acts. Girls Aloud are currently on a break while they pursue solo projects, but the group – comprising of Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts – believe the show would be the perfect event to reunite for.
"The girls are getting very excited. The promoters are only looking to book massive, show-stopping acts, which they would be perfect for,” a source told British newspaper The Sun. "They would tick the pop box while The Rolling Stones would appeal to a much wider audience."
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is a huge fan of Girls Aloud and is believed to be keen to see them on the bill.
It was recently reported the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony will feature a performance from a supergroup featuring top British music stars. The event, which will be directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle, is rumoured to include a group made up of Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Sir Mick Jagger and John Lydon.
It has also been revealed The Spice Girls are keen to reform again and perform at the opening ceremony.
Geri Halliwell thinks the girl group would be the perfect act to warm up the crowd at the prestigious sporting event.
“The Spice Girls are part of me and always will be. If it happened and felt natural and right, then I’m always open to singing with the other girls,” Geri said. “Singing at the Games is a great idea and would be an amazing opportunity – and it’s a sign the Brits are back. This is our time. Everything is circular and now there’s a British pop revival.”

I hope this is true, the Stones at the Olympics? I don't know though, I have never heard of the source.

Well, at least you can rock out to the Rolling Stones.

I've never been a fan of Coldplay. I have nothing against them. Nothing at all. And I'm not saying that my tastes are, you know, the only ones out there. In my humble opinion, however, you can't rock to Coldplay.

I don't know Girls Aloud one way or the other.

Spice Girls? Meh. Some of their old stuff had the nostalgia factor going for it, but yeah.

At the end of the day, at least you can rock out to the Stones.

That's the only band I know out of those ones. Well that's not true, sadly I know who the spice girls are... but those dark days are long behind me.
