I'm absolutely disgusted by the concept of this.

NOOOO!!! That would be extremely horrifying to say the least. He should not become a PETA Spokesman.

On the other hand, Michael Vick is probably the best argument anyone anywhere will ever find for supporting PETA.

I thought that was an Onion headline or something.

Like the article says, PETA has its own PR problems. Maybe taking a less radical stance (like no dogfighting), might help them.

I think it could still backfire on them though.

Has anyone been following this story?

Trump to Miss California: ‘You’re not fired’ - Beauty Pageants

Quote:
Miss USA pageant co-owner Donald Trump announced that despite the controversy over her stand on gay marriage and racy pre-pageant photos that have surfaced, Carrie Prejean will retain the title of Miss California USA. Trump also commended Prejean for speaking her mind about same-sex marriage during the Miss USA Pageant.

“We’ve reviewed the pictures carefully. We are in the 21st century and I talked about relevance,” Trump told a packed press conference in Trump Tower Tuesday morning. “Carrie’s a model … We’ve made a determination that the pictures taken were acceptable, they’re fine, in many cases they’re very lovely pictures and in some cases they’re modeling pictures.”

Following his announcement, the controversial Miss USA runner-up thanked him as well as her supporters and, in an impassioned and sometimes tearful speech, blamed opponents of her social stands for circulating the photos and attacking her.

.....
The rest of the story or mini-saga continues in that article.

I had the chance, well the misfortune actually, of watching Trump and Prejean go on and on about her martyr-like status. It was like watching the proverbial 40-car smash up on the freeway and not being able to take your eyes off the wreckage.

LOL..her explanation of why her nipples were showing in the latest pictures was hilarious. Posing on a cliff on a windy day? Right.

One reporter who did ask why she felt it was ok to lie on her pageant application (about posing semi-nude) and not face any consequences. The Donald told him it wasn't an appropriate question.

It's taken quite a nasty turn, this whole Miss California thing. I've seen a lot of very nasty comments online about this being the work of the "gay agenda" photoshopping her pictures to make them look the way they did because of how she expressed her freedom of speech to say she was against gay marriage.

To me, it's revealed a very ugly, scary segment of America.

Whether she keeps her crown or not matters not at all to me. She's a pageant girl. Good for her. I don't care.

But to link the reveal of pictures she doesn't deny taking with her answer to the gay-marriage question... and then to blame "the gays" for the fact that she's a bit of a hypocrite (albeit probably no more than the rest of us)?

Yeah, I have to say that I find it very nasty and disturbing.

I just don't get the attacks on her about her stand on gay marriage. She was just being honest and from the answer it didn't seem that she was attacking anyone. I don't agree with her but I've heard worst from others out there.

Im glad she kept her crown. I think all this critisism of her answer has been pretty un-called for on the fact that she gave her honest opinion. She was asked a question and asked to give her opinion and she did. Period. I completely agree with her and so does the majority of California along with our President and alot of other Americans!

As far as her pictures, who knows the truth or full story. I dont really see the pictures as dirrogetory (sp) or untastefull. She was/is a model. The first pictures released from her behind would be pictures you would see in Victorias Secret. Nothing wrong with that. And the pictures from TMZ..who knows. Some of them tho do look like they were taken in between because she clearly wasnt posed. None of the pictures were porno-graphic, and who knows were her head was at when she signed that contract. Do any of you remember what you did when you were 18/19/20? Im 23 and I sure don't.

Im proud and happy that she stuck by her convictions and hasn't back-downed even tho many have belittled her.

Honestly, I'm just sick of hearing about her. There's been way to much reporting on this bimbo. I don't care about her either way.

I'm sick of hearing about her too but her excuses and Trump's excuses after these pictures came out really disgusts me. She signed a legal form and she stated that she never posed for nude or semi-nude photos and she lied. Those are semi-nude photos and I understand they're tame but they are what they are. Prejean has never denied that those photos aren't real - not even the newer ones.

It's just another case of people talking out of both sides of their mouth and getting away with it. I didn't expect much from Trump other than to gloss it over because he stands to make money from this whole saga as does Prejean.

If she can lie on her application form and get away with it - not to mention being a "role model" to some because of it then that sucks to be frank. If I competed against her and played by the rules I'd be pretty p.o. right now.

LOL..she's gotten so much publicity I don't even know who Miss USA even is.

I don't have a problem with her stance on gay marriage either. It's how she became this victim afterwards that's really weird and bizarre.

At the end of the day, this is a contractual issue.

There was never anything wrong with her saying she believes in marriage being only between a man and a woman. I mean, I fundamentally believe that position to be wrong, but she was always fully entitled to have whatever opinion she wants to have on that issue.

And the pictures? Whatever. They're nothing, really. Models do pose nude or semi-nude all the time, no matter what kind of Christian values they might have. It happens. It's not for anyone to judge.

But, yeah, if she signed a contract saying she hadn't taken semi-nude photos and she did? Well, that's a lie. It's a lie with legal implications. She should have been held to certain consequences with regards to that. I mean, it's not like she lied about comitting a crime or anything, so who knows what kind of consequences those might be.

As far as I'm concerned, though, anything else is hate-mongering.

Yeah, I totally disagree with her stance on gay marriage, but I don't care if she doesn't believe that, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I mean, honestly, though her answer was pretty stupid. Basically saying that this is America and it's great that we have a choice, but um, we don't. Only a few states have gay marriage legalized. And also, since she did say that we have a choice and she went on to say that she doesn't believe in gay marriage? Like, um, okay? You just said it was great that we have a choice, but we shouldn't have a choice...?

And she's been going on about how people are getting mad at her for her answer, but she can say what she wants because freedom of speech is in the constitution and everyone is entitled to freedom of speech. But what about all men are created equal, and life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Doesn't that kind of go for gay people being allowed to marry? They have a right to be happy, too.

I'm not sure if she should have got her crown taken away or been able to keep it, like she did. I mean, she did lie! She signed a contract and she lied! She said there was no nude or semi nude pictures of her. And then after the news broke that she did have nude/semi nude pictures, she tried to make excuses...like, "I was 17, I was taken advantage of..." or "It was a windy day...." Please, yeah, she's a model and models do take pictures like that, but she was asked to sign a contract that said there were no pictures of her like that, and she signed it... so yeah, that's my only problem with her.

My expectations of people who participate in pagents is pretty low, so I wasn't too shocked about it. I was reminded from reading an article about it, Donald Trump excused another pagent winner for underage drinking, sexual misconduct, etc. So in comparison Miss. CA. isn't so bad. Not that I like her.
